Re: 2015 BM20 skipping steps

Have you contacted Speidel? They do have support staff to help with things like this. They can be a bit slow to respond but I have generally found them to at least try to be helpful and they may take your controller in for exchange/repair/testing.

Re: Braumeister new touch screen

You can't buy this new panel as a spare part on their webshop. I wonder if it is intended to be able to be fitted to machines with the old colour screen? I'm very unhappy with my control panel. More specifically I'm very unhappy with the wifi and myspeidel stuff which I wasted hours on trying to mak...

Re: Shipyard American pale ale recipe

It's a nice pint I think. People rave about in Wetherspoons on keg but to me it tastes much better chilled down in the fridge and drank straight from the bottle. Tastes a bit bland in spoons to me.. I'm often disappointed by beers in 'spoons. And given what a c*nt the owner is - see how well he tre...

Re: Shipyard American pale ale recipe

My experience with Ringwood is that folks either love or hate it (I am a member of the former camp by the way). I wish I could get my mitts on some of the "real" dual strain yeast as I have a couple of recipes I use the commercial White Labs version on (which I know is not the "official" dual strai...

Re: Shipyard American pale ale recipe

The Marstons Shipyard pale ale is a pretty decent pint, not earth shattering, but nice. I had a temporary lapse of memory about Ringwood belonging to the Marstons empire. It's a nice pint I think. People rave about in Wetherspoons on keg but to me it tastes much better chilled down in the fridge an...

Re: Anyone tried doubling 20L Braumeister volume like this?

I tried this for the first time the other day. I did fit everything in but sparging that much with only a kettle and a thermometer to get it to the right temperature was a bit tedius. Disposing of 10kg of grain was also a challenge as our council aren't taking the food waste bins at the moment.

Re: Braumeister new touch screen

It will be interesting to see if it's any good because the touch screen model I have is really not that great. I've had buggy errors with mine and terrible wifi problems. I've mostly abandoned trying to upload recipes to it as it was causing hours of frustration. I've previously had to send my contr...

Re: Barrelled wine

I've ended up with carbonation in my red stored in a corny keg. I serve out of Perlick taps on my kegerator. I'm wondering whether in this instance it would actually be better to use a party tap as these (although producing a lot of foam) tend to take the carbonation out of liquids.

Re: Excess Barrel Pressure?

You are massively over priming. 50g will be adequate but you will need to inject gas as you dispense to keep a good serving pressure.

Re: Azacca Pale Ale

Ouch scathing comments. I’ve always been intrigued by this hop, having had a very good Azacca single hopped beer by Marble beers, Manchester who did a range of single hopped beers a few years back. It was maybe going towards 5% quite orangey in colour. Tasted great but perhaps there was a lot of dry...

Re: Minibrew, Braumeister or grainfather

I really would not suggest someting as small as 5l. All that cleaning and effort for a tiny amount of beer. 20l is the perfect compromise between yield and having a device so big and heavy it's a total pain to operate and move. Also if you find brewing a bit boring you certainly don't want to be doi...

Re: Pros and Cons?

1. Is it the brewing equivalent of a bread maker? Not sure what you mean but I think no. 2. Having invested in one, do you wish you hadn't and why? I'm pretty happy with my investment. I bought second hand but it was truly as new and came with some accessories that I didn't want and sold to buy some...

Re: Brewing Red Wine

My Kenridge Merlot kit was good. The only issue I've had is that the wine tastes slightly sweet. The fermentation stopped just a bit too early as it didn't quite make the target on the instructions. I think I fermented slightly too cold in my fermentation chamber. I'll up it by a couple of degrees n...

Re: Dangerous chemicals in grapefruit

Don't know. What I can tell you is that the Grapefruit IPA I made as a clone of Brewdog Elvis juice made me feel wierd to the extent that I ditched the end of the batch. I've not noticed any issues when drinking real elvis juice though so maybe there was something else going on with my batch!
