Re: Kettle style lead getting very hot on the plug terminals

I've been using this cable for the last few years without issue. Much beefier than the standard one:

Re: High ABV

First thing I'd say is your efficiency is probably higher than that of the recipe. Happens to me all the time, especially with recipies using less malt. It seems to increase my efficiency further as I brew BIAB.

Re: Excess Barrel Pressure?

If you've got the sparkler fitted maybe remove it. My standard bottom tap pressure barrels require a very slow pour until the gas pressure drops but I am able to get a pint without loads of foam.

Looks to me that there was still some residual yeast activity.

Re: Storing fermented beer in plastic containers

Longest I've left 1 was an Old Peculiar clone, 18 months. It was really smooth. That strength beer mellowed well. Routinely though I leave the beer in there for about a month or 2. I've got 4 jerry cans and they are my overflow/buffer. Also the beer goes in the Sankey crystal by the time I transfer....

Re: Storing fermented beer in plastic containers

I use plastic jerry cans to do exactly the same thing, not always just when I build up a few brews. Keep an eye on the pressure. I give the jerry can a bit of squeeze to feel how firm it is. If it's quite firm I slacken the cap slightly to release a bit of pressure. When the time comes I transfer th...

Re: Wilko's Golden Ale?

From memory that kit was quite plain. You could use British hops or go as others have done above and use US hops and maybe US05 yeast. Hard to go wrong really with that kit.

Re: How to set pressure on secondary regulators

I use the micromatic compact regulators. No issues with them, work very well and easy to set pressure. The graduations seem accurate enough.

Had them off eBay new. Keep an eye out, they appear from time to time. Paid about £10 - £15 each.
