Re: Sediment

Thanks TFWilf I was worried that I may be leaving it too long in the FV. Does sediment serve any useful purpose? is it just a by product of secondary fermentation. I do tend to be very careful when siphoning into the bottling bucket and probably leave a bit more in the FV than some.

Thanks

Sediment

Hi I have done 5 kits now, couple of Coopers, Festival IPA ,Wherry and a Muntons bitter and I have not had any sediment whatsoever in any of the bottles. So far I have bottled it all. Is this a good or bad thing? All the bottles have conditioned well with good carbonation and a good head. Why no sed...

Re: Hop teas and dry hopping

I am not an expert by any means, still very much a beginner but: I have tried hop tea in the FV steeping 2x 20g gram bags in the kit cans for 15- 20 mins in just off boiling water. Also tried dry hopping a Wherry which I have just bottled - 25 grams of Goldings in a hopsock after the initial ferment...

Muntons Gold Pilsner

Hi Only my 3rd brew so still learning!! Put a Muntons Gold Pilsner together at about 10am this morning and got it sitting at about 20c. Pitched the yeast at 22c there is no sign of anything happening. Is it too early to be worrying? Should I leave it until tomorrow morning and see whats happening, s...

Re: STC 1000

As far as I know its to stop the compressor switching on/off too frequently, preventing it overheating?

STC 1000

Hi Got all the parts on order for my brew fridge. I see the STC 1000 has a compressor delay from 0 - 30 minutes. Anyone have any idea what setting is right for this? It seems straightforward to set it up but any hints/tips very welcome!!

Re: First Brew - First Post

Hi I made a hop tea with Hallertau hops, steeped in just off boling water in the can for 15 mins. As it was my first kit I cannot tell how much difference it made but it certainly tastes OK.

Re: First Brew - First Post

Well !! Bottled this on 14/6 and placed in warmish cupboard. The pet bottles firmed up nicely and it got the better of me. I knew I should wait longer but I put one in the fridge for a couple of hours earlier on today. Primed with 1.5 Coopers tablets, they came with the kit, and its good! Nice head ...

First Brew - First Post

Hi All Just part way through my first brew, Coopers Aussie Lager, all going well but a couple of questions. I brewed this kit to 21 litres and added some hop tea, OG 1045 after 12 days down to 1008, its been that for the last 2 days. Its tastes OK but its still cloudy although I can see a difference...
