Re: Just changing brewing method

Looking at herms bay's second post it looks like the shiny stuff has already been bought. I certainly wouldn't want to get rid of all that and start again! What's an 'LFE', please? Guy https://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/LFE :D Lead Field Engineer??? No idea what they Lead or in what Field? "Eng...

Re: Crusader keg newbie -- advice on where and what to buy?

You may well find it difficult to source the flat seals used in Crusader Kegs. BrewUK are especially unhelpful. You could try these o rings https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30pcs-Black-44mm-x-3-5mm-Industrial-Flexible-Rubber-O-Ring-Oil-Sealing-Grommets-/183145569981?hash=item2aa4539ebd May work and cheap ...

I'm from Witney, so I guess our water would be similar?
Probably but only a proper Wallybrew test would tell, Thames water does vary and their publish figure are very average.

Re: Boiling to lower alkalinity

FWIW my water near Carterton, just down the road from Witney, had 99ppm calcium albeit 3 years ago. Time for another Wallybrew test!!!

Unfortunately all the Adnams 5L ales are now keg, no more Adnams yeast I'm afraid:😞
WLP025?

Yes John pretty sure it is the Adnams yeast strain, I've used it, it's unfortunately not always available.

Really didn't know that. Not sure what you mean by "now keg2, they always were in a mini keg. Do you mean they are pasturised
and filtered before putting in the mini keg

Re: Improper Job

Just to confirm it is the same yeast. So far as St Austell is concerned.
One the other hand Adnames in Suffolk at one time had their Ghostship bottled elsewhere Marsdens? and only the 5l kegs had the Adnames yeast, wot a shame, had to drink 5l before having their yeast.

Re: PicoBrew Model S

No FB for me. Frustrations - 19L Cornie does not work as the pumps don't seem to cope - 9L Kegs mainly out of stock or very expensive - Dried yeast will make the final product very expensive due to 5L batch size unless harvested for reuse - Lots of bits missing (as stated by supplier) which mean mo...

Just noticed on the FB Pico forum an old thread has been resurrected, with someone publishing a 3d mould to produce a silicone hop holder.
Yes saw that but he thought all the kit would cost less than $100 !! So I lost immediate interest.

Small brewery duty relief may change

Seems some craft microbreweries may suffer, the largest will of course benefit.
