Large scale stir plate

I am seeking some advice for my brewery and creating starters for a 400l brew length. Looking at Brewers Friend to scale up to sufficient yeast I would add 8 yeast smack packs to a 1036 OG 20 litre starter. On a store plate this would give me sufficient yeast count to pitch. However that means there...

Re: Building a hop back

Thanks very much for all your replies, plenty to think about. The purpose is more hop aroma but not necessarily the hop haze that can occur with heavy dry hopping. I was considering just dry hopping but was also thinking about using a hop back addition as well as dry hopping or in some brews instead...

Building a hop back

Hi there I am seeking some inspiration to build a hop back. I have started a commercial brewery although only 1 BBBL size I am seeking to add a hop back into the set up. My thought is to use a thermopot of about 30 litre size and add a tap at the top and bottom with a bazooka on the bottom tap. The ...

Re: Going Pro opportunity

Very interesting and very much on my mind about taking the plunge! So it should. If you don't have your own outlet, or one as part of your plans, don't do it. It really is that simple. That's sobering stuff. Will be interesting to read his promised future blogs on where he sees issues. As I've ofte...

Re: tt landlord

Hi Lee This is a recipe I have brewed many times trying to emulate the original and Bolt Maker and I have come close - it, if you want to get some recipe inspiration have a look at my blog the TT recipes are on there. I always use WYeast 1469, GP, Crystal and Torrified Wheat. Then Worcester Goldings...

Re: Yeast recommendation

Wy1272 American Ale II is a useful yeast, not as dry as most Chico American yeasts, gives something different if you modulate the fermentation temp. Sent from my C5303 using Tapatalk What sort of temperatures have you fermented WY1272 at out of interest? Is it more balanced than Chico or still very...

What sort of finish does the 008 leave in a beer, what styles have you tried it with?
