Re: Adnams Crystal Rye IPA

I too am a fan, did you give it a go? What went in/how did it turn out?

I’m surprised your list does not include crystal...

Re: hangovers

My brother gets insane hangovers from beer. A couple of pints and spends the whole day after in a dark room. He stopped drinking beer all together. I bought him a hopped cider recently, will be interesting to see if it could trigger the same reaction. He’s not had it yet. I’ve also contemplated brew...

Re: Starter size

I would definitely make the first step a very low plato starter. High osmotic pressure will hurt the yeast... make the first one very weak and make sure to put nutrients in.

Re: Super easy Bitter recipe

I'm now planning to mix Muntons Extra Light and Muntons Medium 50/50. Muntons Medium has crystal malt in it, but the problem is they don't specify how much or which sort - in contrast to Briess where you get a full report. This is why I was hoping find some info on a good mix of DME. Cheers for the ...

Super easy Bitter recipe

Hi guys, I'm an all-grain brewer looking to do a series of test brews and want a really simple extract recipe for a base. Planning to do these after work during week days so keeping it as simple as possible. If I want to skip steeping grains, only using Muntons DME, what would be a good extract-reci...

Re: Help with finings

Well 4 weeks +3 days. So it's on the edge. And the supplier claims to store it room temp. Isn't that supposed to be a big no-no? If there's a chance it will ruin the beer I'm not going to put it in. It's a competition. I'd rather serve cloudy beer than spoiled beer. Still not sure exactly what happe...

Re: Help with finings

Thanks for your input. I've been emailing the company who sold me the isinglass and apparently they store it in roomtemp at the warehouse. I'm going to skip the isinglass this time. 4 weeks is no good because I'm racking to secondary tomorrow and the event is on the 9th of May. Also, concerned about...

Re: Help with finings

I'm starting to think that perhaps I should just skip the isinglass. To many questions at the moment. What happens if the isinglass goes bad? Will my cask ferment out and condition properly even if isinglass is added during racking to cask? How many hours of warm storage will ruin the cask? Will the...
