Re: Anyone recognise this pump?
It looks very similar to my March May MMP3 pump.

Re: Hanna Beer Refractometer
I too have a HI-96801 I think they're great and use it all the time. They are expensive (I paid around £100) but I got fed up of trying to work out the exact readings on cheap hand held refractometers. You can never have enough gadgets

Re: Cheap pumps
Hi Ian
Thanks for the info. I get about 7L/min when recirculating water in the HLT its just when I send it through the heat exchanger that the pump struggles.
Thanks

Re: Cheap pumps
Sorry - I wasn't very clear there. I meant the Maltmiller mag pump. It's £85 and a good halfway house between the solars/topsflos and the chugged/March Mays. I'm thinking of buying another for my HLT just to have a quieter brewday Hi Donchiquon The Pump you purchased from the Malt Miller is it rate...

+1 for Southern Temp Sensors, I had 2 NTCs and 1 PT100 custom made in 2011/2012 and still working fine

Re: Panel Switches
Hi Robski I use similar Maplin switches on my control box. The switch for the boiler element is manual (i.e. does not go through a PID/SSR ). The HLT and HERMS elements are controlled by the PID/SSR and the switch. I've had this control box running for many years but I am planning to upgrade the con...

Re: Bit of help with pumping wort into an FV please
I use a small 12V solar pump to pump from boiler to FV, recirculating for about 20 mins before the end of the boil, then a further 30 mins while steeping the hops. The pump works OK but can take a little while to pump 40L to FV

Re: Herms Control Unit
Hi
Here is a schematic of my control box.
For My herms I use a 2.8L pot with a 2.4KW cheap tesco element. The temp is monitored using a 3 wire PT100 and the element is controlled using a PID and SSR.

Re: Lights out brewery build project
Hi setmash
Good luck with the project, I assume you've seen the brewtroller projects. One day when I retire I may get time to build a more automated brewery.

Looks much neater than my effort. As I didn't want to drill the lid of the thermopot I used a http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Deluxe-Stainless-Steel-Tray.... a stainless ice bucket from poundland, and http://www.diy.com/nav/100mm-Circular-Aluminium-Flexible-Ducting.... http://ccgi.markhulston.plus.com/ima...
