Fermentation should be finished tomorrow or Saturday and I was hoping to leave it for a week or so in the cool before bottling as I'm away next week. Maybe I'll rack it off into my bottling bucket before I leave instead.
Cheers

Kveik Bitter
I had a couple of sachets of Mangrove Jacks Kveik yeast in the fridge that I hadn't got round to using yet, so thought I'd give them a try. Day 1 Brew Day •5kg Maris Otter Pale Ale Malt (88.5%) •350g Crystal/Caramalt 175EBC (6.2%) •300g Torrified Wheat 5 EBC (5.3%) •50g First Gold @ 60 minutes (34 I...

Think 'our Graham can help you with the recipe.... https://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15361#p183663 Nice one, Mashbag! I did search for OF before posting, but the top posts were about being an old fart, or farting about with stuff, I should have persevered! I'm due a malt order soo...

Re: Robertson's Old Fart
Aha! Now you could be on to something here. Having a search under Merriman's, they acquired the rights to brew Old Fart from Robinwood Brewers & Vintners, who were active between 88 - 93, so the right era. Robinson were also contracted to brew it, though this was for Merriman's so 94 onwards which i...

Thanks for the reply Ed, interesting that the same beer differs from pub to pub due to some tweaking.

Re: not using sugar in wine making
Not unless you use grapes. Most UK fruit does not contain enough natural sugar or juice so country wine have water and sugar added. As I said above, so much fruit would be needed to get the sugar level up, it would affect (ruin?) the flavour. I'm still wondering if an experiment was carried out by ...

Robertson's Old Fart
When I was about 18 (ahem), I used to occasionally drink in the New Inn, Littlehampton, and I remember they had a beer called 'Old Fart' by Robertson's Brewery (not to be confused with Robinson's). Being a guest beer, it was only there for a short time. I found out one night where it got its name fr...

Re: How Much Roasted Barley?
I finally got round to brewing this a couple of days ago, it's bubbling away and smelling pretty good! I took out the 30 minute Northdown additon and I only had 30g of Challenger left (must have been sloppy with my record keeping!) which took the bitterness down to 45 IBUs. I'm unconvinved I could t...
