World's Best Beers
Charity shop find for today is a hardback edition of World's Best Beers by Ben McFarland & Tom Sandham (The Thinking Drinkers, apparently). Just having a flick through and there's some interesting brewery profiles. Looks good and certainly worth £3. One minor niggle so far is, on the glassware page,...

Re: It Only Took 10 Years & 5 Minutes
I ' made' (assembled?) a dip tube thing for my Burco as there was a lot of dead space if you just screw a hop stopper thing in the back of the tap. I found that helpful and was very easy to make. Sparge arm sounds tricky. I don't get much dead space with the Buffalo, and tilt it when transferring t...

Re: It Only Took 10 Years & 5 Minutes
Cool, glad to hear it's made a difference. I also use my boiler to heat the mash and sparge water so should be a bit easier for that too, plus I'm now thinking that I might be able to make up a sparge arm to fit as it allows a lot more control. Again, small things that make life easier that I've bee...

Hi-Gene Beer Engine
I picked this up at the weekend from a local antique/salvage shop for £25. It works fine, just needs a clean and new drip tray. The cylinder is mounted horizontally, which I haven't seen before.

It Only Took 10 Years & 5 Minutes
I have finally got round to replacing the tap on my Buffalo Boiler. I've had a new tap sat in the garage for a few years, and every brewday I sit there waiting for the wort to trickle into the fermenter thinking 'I really need to change that £$%$%^^ tap!' Then I promptly forget until the next brewda...

Re: Kveik Bitter
Fermentation should be finished tomorrow or Saturday and I was hoping to leave it for a week or so in the cool before bottling as I'm away next week. Maybe I'll rack it off into my bottling bucket before I leave instead.
Cheers

Re: Robertson's Old Fart
Aha! Now you could be on to something here. Having a search under Merriman's, they acquired the rights to brew Old Fart from Robinwood Brewers & Vintners, who were active between 88 - 93, so the right era. Robinson were also contracted to brew it, though this was for Merriman's so 94 onwards which i...
