Recently, I've attempted to make a toffee apple cider that I saw on a different forum. I've thought about making a fermentation fridge and using an STC1000. I didn't realise that it also tells you what temperature it's currently at

Fermenter Temperature

What would you say is the best way of determining what temperature the wort in your FV is at? Are those temperature strips reliable? Found ones on eBay which are apparently for fish tanks but I guess would work on a FV or is better to just spend more and invest in a digital temperature probe

Bought this online. Couldn't refuse the 25% off. Going to experiment a little with it and brew it with 500g medium spray malt, 500g dark muscavado sugar and black treacle. Read reviews it was a little pale and bland so hopefully this will add a bit of flavour to it and improve it in the long run.
