Re: Nosferatu's Best Scotch (I hope)
A bit of thread necromancy , really sorry I missed your question Wekslap . I never did manage to get a true Scotch clone. About the closest I've got was a German Altbier attempt which was similar in taste but too strong for a Scotch. I took a bit of a break from brewing for a bit due to other stuff ...

Re: A Rauchbier cheat idea and query .
Pleased to say the lapsang souchong worked quite well . On the whole the beer tuned out ok but was a little bit "thin" as I'd mistaken a bag of brew enhancer for DME so it didn't quite have the body I was looking for. Will definitely have another go at this experiment .

Re: A Rauchbier cheat idea and query .
Thanks Rookie , seems like a late addition of some more tea won't hurt at all then .

A Rauchbier cheat idea and query .
Morning all . Decided to do a brew yesterday and thought I'd have a crack at something a bit different in the form of a Rauchbier / smoked beer . As I don't have any smoked malt I've tried what I think might be quite a sneaky little cheat. Having used cups of tea successfully in turbo cider I hoyed ...

Re: Have I got the right kit?
Hi Koreanbrewer , the gear you have already bought will be fine for extract & kit brewing and is pretty much the same as I've been using for the past couple of years . The boiler and chiller probably would make things easier but might be better to see if homebrewing is as much fun as you think it wi...

Re: T/C the 1 pot approach ?
Cheers Oldbloke , I'm quite happy to drink my t/c still so was checking if this would be a viable option just to get a really quick batch done with minimal fuss whilst I get some other stuff underway . I've been a bit slack on the fridge management & brewing front and stocks are starting to dwindle .

T/C the 1 pot approach ?
Really quick question . I'm wanting to make a nice quick and hassle free batch of T/C and was wondering if it's ok to do everything in 1 pot so to speak i.e. ferment then serve from my pressure barrel ? No messing around with bottling or suchlike also leaves my FV free for a different brew that I've...

Our local ice cream company is getting in on the act .
Athol brose, which is a single malt whiskey ice cream, with toasted oats and Harry Owens of St.johns Local Manx honey.

Re: Help on Extract Brewing Please
Agree with everything Clibit and Rookie said . As big a pot as you can get/afford seems to be the general consensus but I've got by fine with a fairly cheap 10l stock pot . Wilkinsons generally have stuff around that size in and are reasonably priced .
