Re: Spent grain disposal - what do you do with it?
I did used to put it on the compost, but i just got more mice... even trotting across the garden! Mice love my place so I'm afraid it all goes in the bin now.

Northern Brewer
Hello!... I am planning a Kolsch and noticed I have an unused bag of Northern Brewer, is this a good pairing? I've done some research to check but not much was coming up.

Re: Adding cocoa nibs
They were right at the bottom, no problem and out of the way when I was dropping the beer into the keg. No need for a muslin bag.
Cheers,

Re: Dry Hopping With Pellets - In PB
I find the best way to deal with pellets dry hopping is to crash cool. This seems the best method, certainly for me, that ensures the racked beer is clear and free of hops/debris.

Adding cocoa nibs
Morning all, when adding nibs during the fermenting stage, what happens to the nibs, do they just drop to the bottom? I was thinking of just dropping them in rather than using a muslin bag.

Re: Adnams Crystal Rye IPA
Not yet, but going to give it a go. The malts are listed on the website, but i suspect other ingredients as you say. It seems harder to get chocolate rye so I was going to sub it with cara rye and see how its goes.

Delay before boiling.
Hello, quick query, sorry if this has been asked before... I had to go and sort something out during brewing and left the wort (completed the spare phase) for about an hour before I started the boil, any issues with this, will it affect the beer? Fist time this has happened to me in the brewing proc...

Adnams Crystal Rye IPA
I find this a nice beer and wouldn’t mind giving it a go... It’s listed malts are Chocolate Rye Malt, Munich Malt, Amber Malt and Rye Ale Malt. would anyone hazard a guess on the ratios or what other malts may be in it?

Use by dates.
I got a recent batch of water treatment and protofloc from a supplier with very short best before dates, I would usually get over a year or so, these are June and August 19, and even with 200g/250ml I wouldnt get trough allot to be honest. Technically they are within the dates so no point in mention...

Re: Dennis’s Galaxy
I would like to brew this but down at 4%, sticking to 92/6/2 ratio would this still come similar to the original?
Cheers.

Dry yeast for Kolsch
Hello,
I’ve drifted away from liquid yeast having found very good results with some mainstream brands. I m planning on a kolsch for summer and was wondering if Safale K-97 German ale yeast is good one? Or are there any others I’ve missed?
Thanks.

Re: Blocked Pump !
Hello... I must admit I was worried about the blocked pump scenario moving from Bulldog to GF but since I use hop baskets I have had no problems and no hop debri goes into the wort. I have two baskets one for pellets and one for leaf.

Cleaning and Domestic Drainage
Hello, I have just moved home and ready to start a brew again! My new property is not on mains drainage/sewage, we have a kleigester and mini treatment plant. So I was after some advice from a beer brewing perspective what I can and can’t put down the drain. I do 20l batches and sometimes use VWP, a...
