Re: Braumeister Killer?

Looked at this when going down the one pot route. It looks fantastic but incredibly expensive. The prices you have to add VAT on to. If you include the recommended starter kit you’re looking at over £1800. Add on sparge heater if needed – it’s a lot of cheddar! The Grainfather, Brewzilla systems hav...

Re: Induction Hobs

I'm making the move towards induction hobs on my new setup but have hit a query regarding which model is most suitable... Buffalo make a 3000W hob (model CE208) and a Heavy Duty 3000W Hob (CP799). I'll be using these with 10 USg/35l pots. What would be really useful to me is first hand experience u...

Re: Yellow Submarine Pale Ale

Great post and congrats for the wedding! As one who had the misfortune to suck a litre of sanitiser from the blow off into the FV while cold crashing, that Guardian device looks interesting! I used a simple balloon (sanitized) previously, worked well. This is just a upgraded version. You could easi...

Yellow Submarine Pale Ale

I’m getting married next year and providing homebrew beer favours on the table (this is a test run for it). This was brewed last month and I tapped the keg last weekend. Pleased to say it has turned out really great and I can’t wait to brew it again in the New Year :D Recipe: Yellow Submarine Pale A...

Bottling Elderflower Sparkling Wine

First ever attempt at making sparkling elderflower wine :D Hoping to use them for our wedding favours next year. A lot of conflicting advice online when to bottle. My brew has been sat on the flowers and fermenting for over a week now. Fermentation is starting to slow down (Lalvin EC-1118 champagne ...

Mocha Stout - how does this look?

First time ever brewing a sweet stout, in fact anything dark [-o< How does the recipe below look? Research online suggests adding lactose in the last 15 mins and the cocoa nibs in the last 10mins…is that about right? Depending how much ‘coffee’ flavour I get from the malt I was thinking about adding...

Re: How long to leave kolsch

You want to drink Kolsch fresh, so anything from 2-3 weeks (onwards) is fine. Having just brewed my 3rd batch this is one of my favourite styles to brew! :D Just sent a Kolsch to a competition which will be 16 weeks old by the time its judged. Will be interesting to see how it scores as I think it's...

Re: Blichmann Beer Gun

I’ve been using a copy of the Blichmann beer gun for over a year now and find it great :D My top tips: - Chill the kegs as much as possible. I usually set my fridge to 0°c and leave it for 24 hours or more. - I fill the beer gun with Starsan from the keg, then place it in the fridge. - I use plastic...

AG#19 - M.A.C American Amber Ale (BIAB)

First brew day post in a while. This was the first brew using my new Blichmann Hell Fire burner. What a piece of a kit it is =D> kicks out some serious heat and reduced my brew day massively. Hoping to enter this beer in to the upcoming Welsh National. Fairly successful brew day apart from the trub ...

would this be a really bad idea? Nope not at all, I’ve done it loads of time and have got great results from it :D I purchased one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Homebrew-Stainless-Steel-Hop-Spider-Beer-Filter-Keg-Dry-Hopper-300-Mesh-7x29cm-/152338121722?hash=item23780f43fa:g:tBYAAOSwo4pYPr7E

Re: Man go camping, man need beer!

Now that's more like it! How is it on the disposable CO2 cartridges? The Malt Miller sites suggests not quite a full keg from a 16g one. Cheers, Jamie Yeah that’s about right. I used x1 cartridge on NYE and it dispensed the whole keg (about 7-8 litres). You can pick the cartridges up pretty cheap o...
