Re: Sanitiser in beer - help!
A suggestion for the future. Buy an FV with a 50mm screw cap and use a foam bung. That way you will have no need of a blow off tube. Plus you can transfer without removing it via a tap. I have no problems with my fermenter, just need to remember to remove the tube from the sanitiser before chilling...

Sanitiser in beer - help!
I checked on my fermenter just now having set the brew fridge to crash cool a few days ago. I saw sanitiser being drawn up the blowoff tube. Once I released the suction and drained the hose I estimate that there’s up to about 150ml missing which I can only assume is now in the beer. Is all now lost?...

Re: Pumping beer from fermenter?
Did you have problems using the higher voltage, prompting you to lower it, or were you just being careful?nigelsch wrote:I use a 12V solar pump, on lower voltage and pump into kegs.

Re: Pumping beer from fermenter?
Hmm, just had a browse at scissor lifts and there are some relatively low priced ones around with enough capacity to lift a FV, but I probably don't have the space to store one of those. For now I think I'll rely on getting mates round to help with the lifting part and experiment with using the pump...

Re: Pumping beer from fermenter?
If a pump and the hoses are flooded with beer, where does the oxygen come from to oxidise it?

Re: Pumping beer from fermenter?
Pumping could introduce enough oxygen to accelerate staling and the extra risk of introducing an infection is also present. Might be impractical but can you raise the fridge, lot easier to get FV's in an out too? Unfortunately not, it's a fridge-freezer so a bit too tall to raise up. How is it carb...

Pumping beer from fermenter?
Hi, I managed to injure my shoulder some time back, most likely caused by lifting heavy buckets of liquid up to counter height or more in the course of several brew days. I'm looking at how to remove all requirement for heavy lifting from the process. I can get to the point of fermentation using pum...

Re: Cleaning cornie lines with garden spray -- anyone got a
3. If you have a corney keg, you can get counter pressure filler caps for the beer line to go onto. See this thread Yep, got one of those -- I watched the video before buying it and fancied adapting a garden spray like the guy in the vid. Are you suggesting using the hose barb on the filler cap as ...

I can't remember how to embed video, but the link is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YK1-7mHk48 Search Gash Slugg DIY cleaner That looks a bit beyond my DIY skills, I'm sure there was a user on JBK who was making them for sale some time back? Or does anyone know of a home-brew supplier in UK selli...

Cleaning cornie lines with garden spray -- anyone got a link
I remember someone attaching cornie disconnects to a hand-pumped garden spray for use as a cleaner for beer lines, and selling them. I've been trying every search term I can think of for the last hour and can't for the life of me find it.
Anyone got a link?
Thanks
Paul

Plastic for boiler lid?
Hi, I'd like to copy the idea at http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=745044#p745044 to exhaust the steam from my boiler. I want to make sure I get the right material for the job, that won't melt or go floppy when subjected to a 90 minute boil. Does anyone know what I should be going f...
