Re: " Ditch's Stout " Master Class .....
Yeah, I did make them, both the "standard" version and the XXX version, by the time I got back to the Philippines just before Christmas, my brother in law had drank the lot! I guess they were ok then.....? :( I still have my other batch at home in the UK, so when I get back later this month I'll be ...

Re: Recirculation pump
That's what I'd call a "wobble" pump. Generally used for transferring oil out of drums and the like. We have them installed on our diesel driven fire pump engines for filling the sumps during oil changes (400 litres). They're very slow, hard work and not very reliable. Probably ok for transferring y...

Re: " Ditch's Stout " Master Class .....
I'm exhausted! I read through the whole thread, 120 pages, took me about 4 days. I've ordered the Coopers stout kits and dark DME from my local HBS, The Homebrew Centre in Keynsham, cracking little shop if you're in the locale. Don't know how they squeeze everything in to such a tiny space. Anyway, ...

Re: Hose pipe ban
Hmm, interesting this. What about chilling your wort, then using the warm water from your water butt (or whatever), THEN washing the car? I probably wouldn't bother asking as I use pretty much all the water left over for washing my gear after a brew, although there usually is some left over. I put t...

Re: Anyone interested in a winter warmer
I don't think so tourer. It didn't seem to drum up enough interest sadly. Maybe it was a bit too late and most people had already got their winter brews on. Maybe next year! I'm hoping that someone might get another brew along going in the New Year though, despite my last efforts being a total disas...

Re: Anyone interested in a winter warmer
Oh well, this has lost momentum! I'm back at work now, so no chance that I'll get anything on until November. I did manage to get an Oatmeal Stout on whilst at home, a first for me; and a Raspberry Wheat, another first, though not my first Wheat. Both seemed pretty good at the test (taste?) and pack...

Re: Anyone interested in a winter warmer
I'm still in, 'though as I mentioned previously, I can't brew on the 30th, but will brew either a day or so before or on the 1st October.

Re: Anyone interested in a winter warmer
I attempted to make some invert sugar today. It's quite dark, no idea about any "standard" colour grades, but darker than tate and Lyles golden syrup, and quite lighter than their black treacle. I've probably got about a pound and a bit (600g or so). Roughly. I used my wife's portable Tefal indution...

Re: Anyone interested in a winter warmer
I think either of the two beers suggested look fine. The date is not good for me, but I'll fit in around that time somehow.

Re: Anyone interested in a winter warmer
I am up for this. Just got myself a grainfather so I am keen to try it out. Ordering some grain tonight for a couple of other brews as well. I have missed the last few brew alongs so I would like to try this one :) You'll enjoy the grainfather, I have one, although I havn't noticed any significant ...

Re: Anyone interested in a winter warmer
Has interest fizzled out?
I'm going to have a go anyway, I might choose one of the recipes suggested here, but am also thinking along the lines of an Old Peculier type. I've found a couple of recipes that look good and will choose something to make next weekend.

Re: Anyone interested in a winter warmer
Looks good, could you use Golden Syrup for the invert?
