Re: Yeast slope starter - signs of activity?

No, I didn’t post yeast!! It was Thames Valley 3. I left the plate off since I posted earlier and there is some slight sediment / clouding near bottom, just very very little. You’re right I guess, I have to compare it to a small population, rather than the population you’d see after 24hrs with an 11...

Yeast slope starter - signs of activity?

Hi All Decided to try a BL slope for first time - followed the 3 tablespoons dme in 300ml route last night on a slow stirplate. Can’t see any visual signs of activity tonight - it maybe that krausen dissipated through day, not formed, or not got going yet - do you see visible signs with these on suc...

Re: Remote chiller with flojet for fermentation Q

Some time has passed, but I’ve managed to use this successfully so far on first trial. Kept 12c nicely throughout a lager ferment. Cold crashing time, it gets down to 5c nicely, but as I haven’t used the flojet agitator yet (just pumped from bath) I think the water needs mixing to help chill the tan...

Re: Remote chiller with flojet for fermentation Q

Ok so you’re saying attach a normal female kettle lead to the male lead of the pump, then plug this into inkbird? If so, that makes sense - I don’t know though whether mains to inkbird to pump provides too much current ie over 0.9a? Does an inkbird regulate current? Won’t it supply 13a to the pump a...

Re: Remote chiller with flojet for fermentation Q

Yes, hopefully they upload. One pic is the front of the chiller - to the right of the stc is a female kettle lead insert. The other pic is the recirc - flojet 230v 0.9a - is has a male kettle lead fitting on end which plugs into the main unit / draws power and is one as per stc. I can either not att...

Re: Remote chiller with flojet for fermentation Q

Ok, so my flojet has a kettle type lead that plugs into and gets power from chiller.

Can I chop off the kettle end, fit a plug and then have it controlled independently via inkbird?

Remote chiller with flojet for fermentation Q

Hi all, Looking at a remote chiller instead of the ferm fridge to allow me some more fermentation vessels. On a remote chiller - the ones with a flojet recirc/python pump. As I see it, I have two options: 1)remove product coils, drop in a small pump linked to inkbird to turn on and pump chilled wate...

Re: Braumeister or Brewtools??

I love my BM 20 but still hanker for a really nice 3V system. I spent a couple of decades building them. The BM is magic but if I could now buy a ready to go 3V brewery for a sensible price I would. Can't do all that tinkering building anymore .. Thats one of my problems, I think I’ve forgotten how...

Re: Braumeister or Brewtools??

Totally agree with thoughts here as discussed earlier. I’ve now considered that say if I got a BT or BM, that’s an investment of xxx - could I ‘build’ for the equivalent price - I’ve been down this road when I went BM initially. Essentially a diy unibrau, BT or BM (albeit not the upflow mash) electr...

Re: Braumeister or Brewtools??

This is me - currently BM20 but undecided for say 18 months!! Love the BM, but…..I want more. Love the set n forget and simplicity of the BM but wished it could do more - whirlpool, wort pumping etc (mixed reviews on the BM pump thing) BT80 - does those things, seems to have the ability to do a few ...

Re: Help - plug issues 20l braumeister

It was an extension from screwfix - can’t say it was dear but can’t say cheap either.

Are the 20l ok to use on a normal ring circuit (ie is washing machine isn’t on etc)

Help - plug issues 20l braumeister

Help - using the BM tonight for a brew - using it on a 3150w rated extension (another time I directly plugged it in before to a wall socket once and half way through socket started to crackle) though it was due to overheating maybe condensation runoff) so tonight using a different socket further awa...

World Cup brewing prep

Maybe some of you are like me and will be watching the World Cup this summer, BBQ, beers with guests etc. I’d like maybe five full cornies plus the bottled reserves I have already. Looking for suggestions really for a nice variety to offer, I’m thinking Raspberry wheat (conditioning now) Kolsch (con...
