Re: Starsan Discontinued ?
Try ‘milk stone remover’ from agricultural shop ( phosphoric acid dilute to 2% or less) ... you may have to buy 20 litres but only about £20 . Mole valley sell it in south west

Re: Barrelled wine
I've ended up with carbonation in my red stored in a corny keg. I serve out of Perlick taps on my kegerator. I'm wondering whether in this instance it would actually be better to use a party tap as these (although producing a lot of foam) tend to take the carbonation out of liquids. Decant into a c...

Re: Barrelled wine
Looks a handy gadget . How do you connect it to gas line ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It has BSP threaded fittings that will take 3/8 PF adapters. As I say SOAB , thank you ! Brilliant for hand pump real ale and pushing out bulk stored wine + saves wasting gas by venting excess! Thanks agai...

Re: Barrelled wine
Thank you for your suggestion . It’s a brilliant addition to my bar . It has enabled me to adapt my old 6 gallon plastic kegs for handpump duties and free up cornies for craft ales .... plus it is perfect for pushing the red wine out ...

Re: Barrelled wine
Thanks Jim . I’ve used the poly pins for real ale with hand pumps . When I’ve tried them with wine I’ve always had problems to stop ‘glugging’ especially for the last half of the pin . ( especially as you need three hands!) Got all my gas systems in place for my beers and thought it might give me qu...

Re: Barrelled wine
Oh I see, apologies, I didn't read the OP like that for some reason - I wrongly thought you were injecting way beforehand then just venting after serving. Yes, if you inject gas just before or during serving to stop oxygen being drawn in, then afterwards vent pressure to prevent carbonation, I don'...

Re: Barrelled wine
I was thinking of injecting the gas and then immediately venting it to purge any air . Then tightening again . Replacing the air with gas at no pressure ??

Barrelled wine
Going to stick 5 gallons of red wine in brown pressure barrel . Inject nitrogen/co2 mix and then vent after every serving so as not to pressurise /carbonate . Anyone else tried this ?

Re: Floating dip tube for corny
Following a previous thread . I tried ladstock floats with silicone tube . Disappointed ... always foamy compared with dip tube corny . I think the float tilts and lets gas through with the beer ??

Re: Insulating brew pots
The results are in ! Started at 67 degrees because I thought it would drop a few .Put thermowrap on top of grist and a sheet over lid and under tun . Big thick blanket over the lot 95 minute mash 67 degrees at end ! I reckon the beer will be on the sweeter side so I’ll do a forward hopped IPA . At l...
