Re: Beer Taps

Hi thanks for the replies. Yes the spring does come out, but I thought that may affect the functionality of the tap? I would expect in order for it to close tight the spring would be needed. I was hoping for something in between... a tap that stays open when ‘on’ then flips back to close position w...

Re: Beer Taps

I've got one of each, the spring is in the shank on mine, other than that there identical.
Does the spring not pull out?

Re: Grainfather Counterflow Chiller Stand

I use one of these, it's just the right height and enough room for hops etc alongside.

I flush with boiling wort to sanitise so putting it on top is a pain.

Re: Single element

Long term, go electric. Calor have got strict on swapping between range recently as I found when I was after a small bottle for camping, it's not the dealers themselves. Don't go flo as the dealers are all changing to Calor (at least round me). There are loads of old bottles on eBay cheap, find the ...

Re: Dishwasher sanitising

I often put some in to remove labels but sometimes residue left inside (as at same time as dishes) so I rinse after. I personally would not trust to fully clean let alone sanitise.

Have a search of Adams gas suppliers, you may have one local that can get one in if they don't stock.

Re: Burco heater questions

I have a 40l buffalo, the only mod is the thermocouple (copper tube with thin copper pipe to the temperature) knob is removed from the base and clipped away. Mine boils fine for normal 23l brew length. I'm no expert but I don't think a temp controller is the right way to go anyway as you need a roll...

Re: Doh, note to self, read the label!

That explains a lot, when I started to cool my starter wort it was still cloudy where normally it would have dropped clear. I reboiled it as I though I'd not done it for long enough.

Re: Doh, note to self, read the label!

There's no taking it out now, there was only a pinch in 1200ml and I tipped about a 1l out before swilling.

It's a Dennis King Galaxy(ish) delight, not too bothered if there is no head, the galaxy should make up for it. [emoji2]

Re: Immersion chiller, think ill go back to no chill

I made a new one recently around a cornie as my old one wasn't sitting in the wort.

Did 23l this morning and chilled to 20 in about 15min stiring some of the time.

Easy to make, I fit a washing machine tap to easily adjust flow

Thanks, I've poured off most of it and pitched the yeast. I'm sure will be fine.
