Re: Gas lines?

Cheers Jocky,
And the 3/8s ID MDP is fine for gas and beer then?

Thanks for suggestion re 3/16s too, I already have a couple of foot of this on the beer taps, just need to run the beer to that pipework and was hoping one type of pipe would be suitable for both in and out of keg.

Gas lines?

Will be looking to complete my keg set up in the next few weeks. Am wondering what people use for their lines. Would this work for both beer and gas? And also, does anyone know whether it would fit the 3/8s John guest push fittings? https://rlbs.ltd.uk/30-mtr-3-8-id-braided-clear-brewery-grade-hose....

Re: Chest Freezers for Keezer

I have a midi-sized chest freezer. Put a collar on it. 5full sized cornies fit in it. Model number to follow (if I can find it on it!) Thinks it's a Norfrost brand.

Re: Everything beer engine, polypins, cask and questions

I have one bolted to a bench in the garage that's not in use, yet! But it's a fair ride on a push bike to get oop north.

I shall have to get the old wireless set up when I brew next time. Looking forward to drinking the results. Cheers Ingo.

Re: Summer Ale

I brewed a summer ale for last summer. It was lovely. Didn't think to play that song when brewing mind; wonder if it would have been even better if I did?! Do you find it imparts any special flavours to the beer?

Re: Beer engines; keeping it fresh

I haven't quite got round to setting my beer engine and kegs up as yet. Can I just check about what is being wasted please as I thought it would just be the beer in the pump itself (1/4 pint) plus the small amount between check valve (I'm aiming for only an inch or so) and engine? I'd always assumed...

Re: Adding coffee to a porter

I've made a couple of coffee stouts the last few years. I've always just brew a large cafetiar (spelling?!?) of freshly brewed strong coffee and pour in the fermenter before adding the yeast. I've found 2 cafetiars too much, and one just right (for me).

Re: Are there any issues with a slow ferment?

You're best off filling the fridge with bottles of water; reduce the amount of 'air' in the fridge by filling the fridge. Do that and it'll help the fridge maintain its warmer temperature (if you can get it higher - try putting warm water in) Also, and I know it's easy to say retrospectively, but fo...

Re: Detectives Ale - A bit of a mystery (AG #5)

Not too surprised that you're not sure who uncle Harvey is; i 'miss-remembered' him slightly from my youth; a great character from bbc2's the league of gentlemen. "In this house we do not use the 'F' word... This is a Toad!". Whenever i hear of frogs/toads i think of him, just like whenever i hear o...

Re: Detectives Ale - A bit of a mystery (AG #5)

A great thread, very useful with ideas to help tidy up my biab process. Is it wrong though, that from the last post i wondered whether wolf is actually Uncle Harvey?

Re: Fermenting at 12°C ?

Update: Bottled the beer last night. After 2 weeks fermentation appeared to have stalled at 1034. Pitched (half - i managed to drop the open packet!) rehydrated 05 to see what that could do with it. Upped temp to 13.9'c to help. Two weeks later it had finished at 1012. I now have a 6.43% pilsner tha...

Re: Fermenting at 12°C ?

Hi gents, thanks for comments/suggestions. Pitch temp was 12°c - one (smack) pack into 15litres of wort at 1060 (did not make a starter). Next time I'll put 2-3 in at start, but since i hadn't/haven't got more this time, i haven't. I do have a packet of us 05 which i've read will cope with low temps...

Re: any first attempt at a biab advice?

Well, i had a go...... Took on board as much advice from here as i could remember whilst out in my garage. Evening went fairly well, with no 'major' cock-ups. Fairly pleased with that as am used to Murphy's Law. Anyway, forgot to not squeeze the bag but also ended up with less wort (but at a higher ...
