Re: Summer and Hull Melon Hop combo

Huell Melon is very mild in strength I have used it in Golden ales Lagers and Hefe. Try to use it on its own as most other hops will overpower it> it does go well with lager/kolsch styles as a bridge ale for lager drinkers to get them away from the pish

Re: A very bitter bitter!

Its strange how it is so bitter the only thing I can think of is the black malt which can affect the PH mash and cause astringency often perceived as bitterness may be this and the liquorice reacting together apart from that dont know. I would make another mash without hardly any front end hops and ...

Re: Inline filter

Seen these in action and not really impressed no better than using a fine hop spider when transfering the wort to the FV and then using a pop sock over the siphon or bottling stick. I thought it was going to be nearer a beer filter (like a wine filter) and clear the beer so it was clear all it does ...

Re: Hobgoblin please

If you use that recipe as a base add a small dry hop of cascade as I believe that it has cascade in the real stuff.Should be of the style but don't know how close but think you will like it and then experiment to improve to your taste

spray it with some water and washing up liquid when you have pressured it with CO2 and watch for bubbles it may be the pressure relief valve if it has one or the injection valve for CO2 and not the lid

Ace Brewing System

Hi my Peco gave up the ghost the other day and probably now is a opportune time to renew my system. I have seen so many post regarding the Ace system and want to know if anybody has had any problems with the system i.e the heating element lasting, problems using it etc any input would be welcome to ...

Re: Hops by the gram

Totally agree with the Malt Miller recipe most are not completed or do not have the hops, yeast quantities or brew profile and just clog up the system they do need to sort it out as I do not have the time to sort through all these hundreds of useless recipes. I have tried looking at these but always...

Re: Tips on Keg Dispensing

Hi I have a setup like you are describing and have just in the last hour bought a second cooler. I have my kegs in a shed/pub that i have built in the garden and the temps of the cornies are 18 to 20ish on warm days. As long as you lag the pipes to help and keep the beer at a constant temp on its tr...

Re: Corny Regulator Setting Advice

Hi
try a flow restrictor made for beer lines about £8-£10 off Ebay. I use these on all my lines and you just twist the collar on the restrictor to suit the flow works well for me even if too much co2 in the corny so you do not have to be perfect on your line settings but somewhere near.

Re: Another Corny Question!

Hi i usually put 30psi over my beers and remove the gas then top up with gas every morning and evening for a few days. I do this as most brewers will suffer a gas leak if the gas is left on also you can then adjust how much carb depending on style of beer by reducing the gas as you go along. The bes...

Re: Where to get RO water for brewing in east london

Hi I use it on every brew after I started all grain I was getting strong tannin/astringency tastes in my brews which distorted the taste completley away from the style of beer. I use full mash BIAB and also sparged now I know that sparge can also add to this but I made sure my temps where spot on an...

Re: How often do you strip a corny?

Hi overkill by most as they are anal with cleanliness which can never be argued with. I rinse my cornies with hot water from my tap after they are empty and use a syringe to press the top seal of the posts and squirt water down them to flush after this I put a litre or 2 of starsan in flush the post...

Re: Harsh bitter Taste at end of flavour profile

Hi mcfuggles I had a similar problem which I put down to 2 possible things 1 I stopped sparging altogether 2 I started to add a third of my mashing water as RO water to reduce PH problems in the mash. I know that you may not want to but try a brew with no sparge just to see if that is the problem yo...
