Fridges and freezers that fit two cornys

My keezer recently broke down, and I'm currently looking for a new one. I'd rather not buy a new fridge/freezer as there seem to be plenty of secondhand ones. Well, plenty of secondhand fridges. Freezers are harder to come by, at least one that'll fit two cornys. Many have those stupid little steps ...

I find the whole no chill thing really interesting when it gets to hop stands and end of boil hop scenarios.
I use a hop spider anyway. So late hop additions and whirlpool hops would get taken out by with the spider at the end. That should mitigate any issues of no chilling.

Re: "No-Chill" Cubes

Just jumping in on this discussion because I'm considering no chill just to be more green. Why the need to bother with these cubes? Are there any ill effects of chilling to 80 (for whirlpool), and then sending the wort straight to my plastic fermentation bin overnight? I have a fridge to ferment in ...

BrewZilla 4 Beersmith profile

Has anybody got a equipment profile for the BZ4? I used the one that's available as an add-on on Beersmith, and it overestimated my water by a lot. The pre-boil volume I measured was 27L, and yet Beersmith estimated 23L.

Re: Upgrading my kit

Yeah this is the conclusion I came to after speaking with a few others. The BrewZilla Gen 4 looks very good, think I'll get myself that.

Upgrading my kit

I've been BIAB using a peco boiler, with a copper chiller, for a few years now. I think it's time to upgrade. I'm considering a stainless steel kettle and doing a BIAB(asket) brews, with some sort of way of suspending the basket above the kettle so I can then sparge. I'm thinking a pump system as we...

Re: Brew in a Bag v All Grain. Difference?

I'm able to achieve 75% efficiency with a BIAB system. Use a fine milled grain and introduce a sparge step but draining and squeezing the bag out into a bucket and transferring that back. The few points extra of efficiency you might get from a sparge system isn't worth all the extra effort and equi...

CO2 in Cardiff/SE Wales

Once my beer has finished fermentation my keezer will be ready to go, so now I just need some CO2. What's the cheapest supplier people have found in Cardiff and the surrounding area?

A typical BIAB brew day for me, any advice?

I've done four BIAB brews now and I'm looking for any hints or tips to improve. I use Beersmith to create my recipes. I use the water calculations on there. I start with half a campden tablet. Then I do alkalinity and calcium tests. I use as much gypsum, table salt, and calcium chloride to match the...

Re: Did my first BIAB yesterday, looking for comments on improving my next batch

Oh dear, sorry it's not gone right for you. But you'll still have a drinkable beer! Quick response; Mash temperature all wrong! You don't say how much grain you used, but to get a mash temperature of 64.4°C you'd need to heat the strike water to over 70°C. Possibly to about 74°C depending on the te...

Did my first BIAB yesterday, looking for comments on improving my next batch

Firstly, my equipment: 32L Peco boiler and bag Ink Bird temperature control Cooper coil immersion cooler 25L FV with tap Temperature controlled fridge for fermentation My process yesterday was: Heat strike water up in kettle to 65 degrees Add bag, and then add grain. Give a big stir to break up clum...

Excess wort after sparging

I'm currently brewing and I underestimated my efficiency. Because of this I have more wort that I'm able to get into my kettle. Therefore I've taken the extra and put it into a separate pan to also bring up to boil at the same time as the actual wort. The extra wort is about 1.95L with a gravity of ...
