Searching for a (new) Shop
Hello,
I am searching for a shop where i can buy Dingemans amd Fawcet Malt. Muntons would be nice, either.
I already know maltmiller and brouwmark.nl. But are there other shops in Europe?
Thanks,
Kai

Re: ACE one-pot brewing system
In Germany, this one is sold by "Klarstein" In the german Forum there are a lot of post from people who bought this one, and its chinese crap. You got a 50/50 change to get an overheat-Shutoff... sometimes at 70°C .... .... The biggest fans turn over to hate this thing after a couple of mash...

Weyermann, Dingeman, Best, ... noname?
Hello,
I am interessted in your experiences with different Maltsters. (Warminster, Weyermann, Best, Dingeman, Swaen, Thomas Fawcett, etc.)
What are there the differences in efficiency, mashing, and so on? And are there differences?
Cheers

Starsan is best with deionized, soft water. Then you need 4ml / 1 Liter. I take a flower water pistol and filled it up with 1,5l. I dont fill up my buckets....

Re: Mash tun strike temperature
@Sura what size is your tun, and is its volume relevant to your 20l temp drop test volume, I have to try your calculation out, and have a 80l tun and somehow think 20l may not be a sufficient volume for a valid temp drop test with a 80l tun?? Erm, this was just an example.... just now i have a plas...

Re: Using dried yeast
You can sprinkle it, but then about half of your yeast cells will die. Rehydrating in warm water is best: Sprinkle it on 25°C-30°C warm (brewing) water, after 15min stirr carefully till you get a milky suspension. After another 10min you can put it into. And dont use wort!

Re: Mash tun strike temperature
Yes, mash is at room temperature. There is one problem..... when you splash in the Strikewater, it already isn´ t the measured strike-temperature. So you have to splash carefully, or figure ist out and correct it... The formula is like a base: You have to put personal thinks in. (So i did with the a...

Re: Mash tun strike temperature
Its quite simple: Ts = Tt + (0,32 * kgMalt + Mt) * (Tt-Tr) / Ms Ts = Striketemperatur (I add additional 1°C to the target temperature for stirring at mash in) Tt = Targettemperature Tr = Roomtemperature Ms = Strikemass (kg) Mt = Mass of the tun So, when you put in no malt and measure after "strike i...

Re: Mash tun strike temperature
Give some strike water you normally use (temperature and amount) without grist in your tun, and after it take a look at the temperature. Simply add the difference you get to your next strike water temperature.
