Re: Another keezer build
Great stuff, looking for inspration myself, I have 3 30 litre kegs, I have used 2 under counter fridges in the past with tower/tap above on a work top.

Re: Starsan into wort
Cheers for that, I will carry on and keg it, was more worried about the hazard side I think, its the third brew using the same solution, but still clear, or it was. Monster 1200R, had a sevice last week now smoking on start up and whilst running, a mate had the same symptoms that was a new cylinder ...

Starsan into wort
Its turning out to be not a good week, dropped my fridge temp to 10 deg to start a cold crash, forgot to take the blow off tube out of the starsan solution I have in the blow off bottle, I reckon about 500ml has been sucked into a 23litre batch, could this be an issue? In other news my motorcycle ha...

Re: New shiny!
I bought one earlier this year, very impressed, using a blow off tube, I went for a ball valve though as found in this thread from last year. So far so good, I nearly went for the butterfly valve but they were out of stock. https://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=78550&hilit=stainles...

Re: Grainfather mash water level
I am at 1.3mm ATM and still getting overflow throughout the mash but a fairly quick Sparge, will try 1.4mm next session. Had poor efficiency last brew, down 4 points, followed recipe of 66 deg mash instead of my normal 65 deg.

Re: Fermentation down to 1.001
Its my third ferment with the tilt, its pretty much been within a point apart from this one, but as you say great to watch the action and for me the straight line at the end indicating its finished, I still get blow off but thats just CO2, will give this another 3 days to clear up check again then c...

Re: Fermentation down to 1.001
1.000, tilt and hydrometer are pretty much giving the same reading. just checked it I cocked up reading the sample its 1.010 which is much better, not worried about the tilt, as its only a guide, maybe has some krausen stuck to it.

Fermentation down to 1.001
*solved* idiot home brewer can't read a hydrometer. I have done an AG brew on a GrainFather, it was Sara's Japuir which seems quite a popular recipe, I have also been trying to brew this for a while now with various recipes. The recipe called for 2 packets of Nottingham yeast. All went well with the...

Re: Maxi cooler
Nope, its all about how much you need to force the beer out now, thats trial and error, it could be the first few pints you don't need anything if its still foaming, if you think of it in terms of a barrel you have 2nd fermented with sugar to carb it up, eventually that pressure runs out and you may...

Re: Maxi cooler
The secondary reg is going to adjust the amount of CO2 you use to force the beer out, known as serving or dispensing pressure, can vary on temp of keg and what level your keg is carbonated to. If you got it from the brewery I suspect it is already carbonated up, what you need to do is play around un...

Re: Grainfather first brew - bit of a disaster
Certainly been an interesting little read this thread. I am ordering my GF this week and will be coming from a 3V system, so expect to see a time saving on my normal brewday and clean up, which normally takes about 6 hours. Cheers MB Hmmm, 10 brews in on a Grainfather and for a 90 min boil from swi...

Re: Grain Mill
I bought the MM 2 roller in January, pre crushed is too fine for my Grainfather, I use a cordless drill and have milled very slowly, works perfectly, I knocked up a base from some MDF to sit on a 30 litre bucket and cut a hole for the crushed grain to drop, use it on all my grain. The MM mill is the...
