Re: New Kegland pulley / flow control disconnects / mini tap
I've got some of the new disconnects and the small size is great. I find that they don't push on or slide off as easily as the grey/black ones. They don't seem to "click" when pushed in. Worth it for my small setup though.

Re: Kegland cheap mini keg adaptor
How has this passed me by?! Have only just discovered this nifty little PET screw on corny connector from Kegland. Bought on one Aliexpress for cheap. See 3mins 30secs in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jebpq5KTgz4 Takes both gas and liquid allowing you to turn any PET bottle with a standard screw...

Any water treatments being used at all that you haven't used previously? I remember a number of years ago using heavy doses of lactic acid to treat the water and for a while thinking I had an infection of some sort.

Re: Do you take account of break material in hydrometer samples?
I guess if break material was floating on top of the hydrometer it could weigh it down though. I assumed you meant it had already compacted but just re-read your post.

Re: Do you take account of break material in hydrometer samples?
I don't think solids in the jar would make any difference. It wouldn't change the density of the liquid above it. If you placed the hydrometer in the kettle after cooling (as some people do for readings) there would be loads of trub at the bottom, but it wouldn't impact the reading. Temperature coul...

Re: Mini keg carbonation and dispensing
How long would the beer stay fresh when using a party star tap? I've been looking at the Klarstein Skal taps which have cooing as well as don't have room for a second fridge. Thinking of using it for bitters that are good low carbonation and cellar temp, and continue bottling lagers / APA etc.

Re: Wyeast 1469 lag?
Glad to hear. It'll be worth the wait. Big fan of 1469 yeast. It's relatively lively so fit a blow off if your fermenter is full.

Re: Wyeast 1469 lag?
Any sign of Krausen on top if you open the fermenter? When you say no activity, do you just mean on the airlock? I would expect to see activity within 24 hours or so but depends on a number of factors including initial cell count. Would certainly recommend a starter next time for wet yeast as you do...

Re: Bottle Conditioning
You need a couple of weeks at room temperature first to carbonate. After that, ideally you would store at cellar temperatures (approx 12c) as this is a good serving temp for ales, helps the beer clear and prevents over carbonation if stored too warm. If you can't store at cellar temperatures, just s...

Re: 70% off top end stainless
I know Ubrew were a business based in Bermondsey (London) until they recently closed down. They had a homebrew club and kit you could brew on for a fee. Not sure if above is genuine but would have been tempted if the fermenters were a smaller size!

Re: home made pressure fermentor for a trial run
So does the PET bottle growler with the double carbonation cap need some sort of diptube? Can you attach hosing to the inside some how? Looks interesting You would source your carbonation caps seperately, and one of those would have the internal barb that you can hopefully fit something like a 3/8"...

Re: home made pressure fermentor for a trial run
PET bottles are rated to scary levels. I routinely put 45 PSI into them as a portable gas source for growler kegs. Some sources say they can take 150 PSI, but someone else can do those experiments on their own youtube channel and I will get popcorn. Oh and if we are talking about practical uses for...

I've had similar issues previously with flaked barley when I used it in a stout at 25%. OG was about 6 points off despite at that time 50+ brews on the same system.

Re: Proven Pilsner Recipe Please
It depends on your flow rate but I did a very rough calculation and figured it was about 40p to chill to pitching temp in the summer and less during winter (when I can get to pitching temps in around 10 mins) with a cheap immersion chiller. If no chill works for you obviously carry on but I wouldn't...
