Re: Replacing 2.4kw element with 3kw.

Thanks all for the feedback. Think I'm going to go with the 2 x 2.4kw option as it is currently set up, and ready to brew!

I like the idea of the triclamp fitting and do have a spare 1.5" bulkhead fitting.

Replacing 2.4kw element with 3kw.

Hi all, I brought a 2nd hand 100l pot which had 2 x 2.4kw kettle elements fitted. These have a 40mm hole. I want to fit 2 x 3kw elements from my 70l pot, but these have a 32.5mm hole. Has anyone tried to fit a 3kw element in a 2.4kw hole? What options do I have? I have looked at an M33 washer, but n...

Re: Salifert KH / Alkalinity test kit

Thanks again for the responses. I will have a go tomorrow with your suggestion.

Not done much research, but would using RO water help me with my situation. Starting with a blank slate and build my own water profile?

Re: Salifert KH / Alkalinity test kit

Thanks for replying. Have a look at my first post.

That was my plan to use the salifert kit to see how my water now measures against the water I got tested.

My solution did not change from the blue colour after adding the 1ml of KH liquid.

Re: Salifert KH / Alkalinity test kit

Thanks for the quick responses. I did shake the water being tested, inbetween the KH drops. Regarding my location, I'm a couple of miles outside of Portsmouth. My local water report from 2017 has alkalinity (CaCO3) of 297 - 352 mg/l. I brew on a grandfather and about a year ago I got my water tested...

Salifert KH / Alkalinity test kit

Hi I'm trying to test my water using the Salifert KH / Alkalinity test kit but having an issue and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've followed the instructions (4ml of water, 4 drops of kh-ind). When I add the 1ml of kh , I'm using all of the kh liquid and my bluish liquid does not change c...

Thanks for the recipe. I tried this one on the grain father last weekend. My God the smell is good!

Will let you know how it goes.

Grainfather up scale

Hi all! I have a grain father and love the quality of the beer I'm brewing, but I would like to increase the capacity of the beer I make. I tried increasing the grain on the last brew I did to concentrate the wort, then diluting to the correct OG, but only got 33l of beer. I know you can get the 50l...

Grainfather increase capacity

I've done quite a few brews using my grain father and getting good consistency. There are a couple of beers that are getting drunk very quickly and I would like to increase the amount of beer I make. Would it be an option to double the size of a recipe to get twice the amount of wort, then transfer ...

I did beer kits for a while and I thought the ale was good for a beer kit.
