Re: Mango IPA - Chocolate IPA - should I reduce sugar?

Cheers, I will definitely try that tip. This was an early taste test after only 2 weeks of conditioning. In another 2-3 weeks, I'm excited to see how much it has improved. I'll probably use my fancy glass too. Love the back light suggestion.

I will keep you posted.

Re: Mango IPA - Chocolate IPA - should I reduce sugar?

Cheers for the tip. Here's the chocolate IPA https://pin.it/cpxzdp6aw6yqlz The mango was nice too. Although I didn't add enough mango. I'm going to try again with three times the mango and also 200g of lactose. (23l kit) Next round of chocolate IPA I will also add some chocolate extract to hopefully...

Re: Mango IPA - Chocolate IPA - should I reduce sugar?

I'm back with the Chocolate IPA. I used a Youngs IPA Kit and added 200g of cacao nibs which I ground up in a pestle and mortar and added about 50g of cocoa powder. I added this direct to the FV once the gravity had reached 1.011, along with a hop bag. This is a pic after 2 weeks carbonating and two ...

Re: Youngs Mocha Porter

Since drinking this (2 bottles left) I've now decided to brew again but I added 100gms of cacao nibs. It's now conditioning in the garage. Another two weeks and I'll be drinking !

Re: Mango IPA - Chocolate IPA - should I reduce sugar?

Hi all. So I decided to just go with mango to the whole brew. I've used fresh mango, chopped blended and heated in a pan for about ten minutes. Cooled and put in freezer. I will add to a muslin bag at the same time I dry hop, in a couple days. I've decided that I don't mind this beer having a mango ...

Re: Mango IPA - Chocolate IPA - should I reduce sugar?

Thanks for both the comments about the mango.

I've also heard that soaking in vodka is a good tip. Any thoughts on this?

Mango IPA - Chocolate IPA - should I reduce sugar?

I want to enhance a kit splitting a mangrove jacks Simcoe IPA and adding mango to one half and chocolate to the other: Mango IPA- I'll use fresh mango, probably about 5 or six. Will peel chop and heat for 20 mins mins in a pan to kill any bacteria etc. Add to a muslin bag and drop in fermenter when ...

Re: Admiral's Reserve

Hi Dodeth, Ignore the instructions that came with the kit. I brewed this at the start of the year and naively read the instructions and expected that it would be done in 4-6 days. Having read a lot of posts on here etc, I learned that two weeks is about right for fermentation. I actually got stuck a...

Re: Woodforde's Wherry Kit - Fast Completion?

Im no expert, but I'm sure all the seasoned brewers on here would tell you not to bottle after 2 days, leave it two weeks so it has a good chance to clean up and clear. Patience delivers you a tasty beer

Re: Bottle carbonation, Woodforde Wherry Kit

Its all a learning process, as we brew more we fix things we got wrong last time then try new techniques. After my next two kit brews, Im moving on to adding flavours to my kit. I have a Simcoe IPA by Mangrove Jacks. My plan is to add mango to half of it and maybe some cocao nibs to the other half a...

Re: Bottle carbonation, Woodforde Wherry Kit

May I ask did you use the hops packet that came with the kit? I have read that some people have replaced this packet with either hop pellets or the real hop heads. Yeah I used what ever came in the kits and followed the instructions. I think I got the abv at about 5.3%. As for bottles, I kept buyin...

Thanks for the tip.

Yes I would recommend this kit for someone wanting a dark beer. I think the coffee & cocoa give this porter more character

Re: Bottle carbonation, Woodforde Wherry Kit

I'm just as green as you. Spent many hours reading posts on different forums, watching YouTube and speaking to staff in brewshops. I put beer outside to help sediment settle before bottling. Outside was colder than my fridge. The process is called coldcrashing. Don't move your brew whilst it's ferme...
