Greg Hughes Home Brew Beer 2019 - recipe query
I’ve just got the updated Greg Hughes book having used the previous version extensively. The new version has some new recipes and one I’m really interested in: white IPA with rose and hibiscus. I’m looking to do this but the recipe seems to be missing the quantity of rose petals. Anyone tried the re...

Re: Cheap Oypla Boiler on Amazon and thermal cut-off bypass
I junked most of the wiring underneath my boiler and connected the element to an Inkbird PID controller in a separate project box and added a temp probe through go the wall of the boiler. Neatens up the wiring underneath massively and you can dial in precise temps. Only issue I've found with these t...

Re: Anyone tried this site to source used kegs?
Thanks Kev - I'd assumed that UK prices would be much higher. Will have a look at Crusader.
Cheers

Re: Anyone tried this site to source used kegs?
Well, they will deliver to the UK but suggested that min was a pallet with 24 kegs (in this case I asked about the 50L) with discounted transport for more pallets! Given that most of the keg prices appears to be around Eur 50 /keg, we're looking at Eur 1200 plus delivery. I'm not in a position to co...

Anyone tried this site to source used kegs?
Hi A Latvian company that specialises in used kegs, refurbs and mods including the connectors. They do a range of kegs but I'm interested in the 30 and 50 kegs. http://www.used-kegs.com/keg-services/ The website looks a bit out of date so I've sent a message to find out if they supply the uk, min or...

Re: Control panel build
Hi Eclipse
I'm just building a panel myself and had been wondering about the power connectors for the elements. It looks like you've used Neutrik ones? If so can you let me know which ones you went for?
Thanks

Re: Milk chocolate orange stout
Well, I dry hopped with more dried bitter orange peel and roasted cocoa nibs. Then eventually bottled with a priming of Cointreau. Getting good reviews so far!

Milk chocolate orange stout
Hi, To celebrate a year of all grain brewing I decided to go off-piste and brew a little congratulatory stout (batch #014). Most of my recipes so far have been either Greg Hughes or Graham Wheeler derived, but I've used them as the basis for this one! So last Wednesday after work I set about the fol...

Re: Recommend me decent immersion chiller
Well, sort of got pics to work. I did a rough calc of how many coils each size would need to be about equal length. When I'd made all 3 of them up I did a flow test through the manifold and aggro were all within 10% of each other. And it works well in practice.

Re: Recommend me decent immersion chiller
Hi I built an immersion chiller using 10mm copper and formed three roughly equal lengths but different diameter coils and connected them in a 22mm x 3 manifold. Then used a 22 x 15 MM. reducer on each end to connect to the hose pipe. Didn't take long to make and cools 24/25 litres of boiling wort in...

Re: Feedback on first brew
Thanks everyone - helps calm me down :) I used a 1/2 tablet of Protofloc at 15 mins before end of boil. And yes, the remains were very brain like!! Will give whirlpools get a go. I've got a second boiler so I can have a look at transferring from the mash tun to the other boiler. I seem to remember t...

Feedback on first brew
Hello all, This is my first brewing question after years of lurking! I've brewed kits previously then got into the idea of all grain after doing a brew day at Wincle brewery in Cheshire. Fast forward a few years, a brew day with a friends Grainfather and I've gone with a BIAB setup using a Burco 30L...
