Re: potato wine
As for how it does it, without going too far into the technical details it breaks down the starch molecules into smaller pieces, and those pieces happen to be sugars. The same thing happens in a beer mash, where naturally occurring amylase in the malt breaks down the starch in the grains. So what y...

Re: potato wine
Don't they make vodka from a potato ferment? I would think some kind of starch dissolving enzyme such as amylase - https://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/acatalog/Amylase_Starch_Enzyme_25g.html - since potatoes (afaik) don't have their own like barley malt does. I think they do make vodka from it Jim...

Re: Over sugared the brew
This is a wind up surely? Orange juice, sugar, a tea bag, rennies and bread yeast? No the internet is leaden down with people who are not prepeared to put an oz of effort into anything so this is why we have silly little snarky attacks and insalts of those who are jealous of those of us that save a...

Re: Over sugared the brew

Orange yes higher acid, but would this high PH be a problem for taste or fermentation? Har har :D at this point I am reminded to chuck a couple of Rennie tables in as they are ful...

Re: Brewing with non sugar drinks

What I would like to do is brew a 1 lite supermarket carton of tomato juice (as I really love tomatos...

Hi
I made a brew and it is too sweet. So I must of put to much sugar in
Is there a way I can remove the sugar or can I brew it again by adding more yeast?
