Fermentation -holiday problem

Hello Here's my current problem I'm mulling over Im currently making a fruit beer, but my timings are going to be off. Its in the FV in the fridge at the moment, but I'm not going to get time to bottle it before going on holiday for 2 weeks. I'm pretty sure it will have finished fermenting, but it n...

Re: Dry hop - temp reduction

great, very good.

I was planning for 3 days dry hop and then I think I'll drop to about 12-13 and see what happens

Dry hop - temp reduction

So I've just dry hopped my latest brew and as I have a relatively new fermenting fridge (finally I have temperature control!) I'm wondering if its worth reducing the temperature before bottling? Ive heard that can make all the bits floating around drop to the bottom. (dropping bright?) So, it it wor...

Re: Bottle Conditioning

Ah good point about the longer to carbonate. I had noticed that, but didn't put 2 and 2 together.

But if I leave them at room temp, from bottling, how much do you think it would effect the conditioning?

Id love a 2nd fridge!

Bottle Conditioning

Whats the best temperature for bottle conditioning? About 12-13 degrees? Here's my set up I ferment at around 18-19 degrees (depending on the recipe) in my fermenting fridge for 10-14 days Then I bottle and put the bottles back in the fridge and lower to 12-13 As I only have limited space in my frid...

Re: Geterbrewed delivery

these guys are not bad. https://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk but, you can't top The Malt Miller for the quick delivery and quality products. Also a lot of the malts can be made in more precise measurements. No more bags of old grain scattered about the house. Which is worth just to keep the wife off...

Using more than one yeast - good/bad idea?

I woke up thinking about yeast this morning...

Has anyone used 2 different yeasts at the same time?

I couldn't see the benefit of it myself, and I don't think I've seen a recipe with 2 different types?

But I'm sure someone will have given it a try at some point!

Re: Beer Smith 2 - quick question

that makes sense. Thanks very much for clarifying Yes I set up my equipment profile, but then started to question myself when making a recipe and had the option to select a different mash. I'm going for an English IPA, with a large late addition hop profile. So I'll try the full bodied and see how i...

Re: Home Brew Beer by Greg Hughes

I've done quite a few from this book. Here's the ones I remember: Black IPA - Ive not tasted a better one (so far!) Single Hop Nelson sauvignon - I tweaked this with a different yeast and dry hopped. Ive made this a couple of times. Exceptional. I go to bed dreaming about that one ha ha Paters bier ...

Beer Smith 2 - quick question

Hello, I'm giving Beersmith a go on the trial version. As I've been brewing AG from recipes a few years now, but thought it was time I started coming up with my own/having a bit of play etc. This might sound a bit thick, but I'm a bit stuck on the type of mash to enter my set up is a fermenting buck...

Re: Spring Brewalong Recipe Discussion - Summer Quaffer

I realise that this thread is a couple of years old now, but I had a bash at this last week.

How did it turn out for everyone else, and would it benefit from dry hopping?

If so, Goldings or cascade?
