Re: Changes in AA Levels Over the Years
Thanks JonB. It's a1922 Wadworths recipe I spotted on Ron Pattinson's website. It calls for fuggles and I think it might be a good idea to compare it to modern recipes for similar styles to see if it seems to be way out.

Changes in AA Levels Over the Years
I have a 1922 recipe for a beer no longer produced I'd like to try out and it calls for .75 oz additions of fuggles at 90, 60 and 30 minutes. I suspect AA levels in hops may, over 100 years on be higher due to improvements in agriculture. Does anyone know if this is indeed the case and have any idea...

Replacement Boiler Tap
Can anyone recommend a decent tap to fit in a Peco boiler? I'm really fed up with the one that's supplied. IT's got to have a faster flow rate the hole than the existing tap and I have the tools to enlarge the hole if need be. If anyone can also recommend a hop filter to fit on the back of it, that ...

Re: What's Wrong With my Inkbird ITC-308?
Thanks for the replies Vacant and Guy. Guy: It's set to +/- .3°c. Do you think this is too narrow a range and it's struggling to keep bang on 66°c, but if I set to +/-3°c, it would have time to 'slow down' or 'speed up' with a better chance of getting it right, rather like trying to stop a vehicle? ...

What's Wrong With my Inkbird ITC-308?
Earlier in the year I bought an Inkbird ITC-308 from an online homebrew shop to use with my plastic BIAB setup. I've not had a chance to use it much, but it seems to overshoot. To mash, it was set to 66°c with +/-.3°c HDV/CDV. However, it's gone as high as 70°c before I realised and unplugged the bo...

Suggestions for Cherry Beer Recipe
There's a cherry tree in our garden which is huge and have been told produces masses of morello cherries, so thought I'd have a go at making a cherry beer, but am unsure as to what to make and am looking for some BIAB recipe advice. Something with maris otter would be great, as I have quite a lot I'...

Re: Adding Fruit to fermenting
To be honest, I'm not yet sure what style of beer to make. I'm in a rented house at the moment and there's a massive cherry tree which next door's gardener says produces massive amounts of morello cherries. The frost and wind got a lot of the blossoms earlier in the year, but am hoping I might get e...

Accidentally quoted and edited post rather than simply editing an earlier one for spelling ('tou' should have been 'you'). Mods, feel free to delete this.

Re: Adding Fruit to fermenting
I just found this thread as I'm looking to make a cherry beer. I'm at a loss as to why MashBag thinks this is a bizarre thread. It's perfectly valid to be concerned about adding something than hasn't been sanitised to your beer An active fermentation will also clean up. But there is also the option ...

Re: 'Legs' for Splatter Guard False Bottom
Thanks guys. Just a thought though; what would be best for making the holes with? I know you have to be careful with stainless steel as using the wrong tool can cause rust.
