Re: Shortage of malt?

I think the Malt Miller has plenty of stock, they have stopped taking orders as they have so many to process and have a staff shortage. They started taking orders last night but the site was crashed by the huge number of orders. They have suspended orders again to clear the back log. I think we all ...

Re: Newbie

I can highly recommend this book. I found it really useful when I started all grain brewing. Great recipes as well.

Grainfather Community Android App not working

Just getting my kit sorted for a lot of planned brews.

Updated the Grainfather connect app to the new Community one.

Does not work at all, get the start up screen and that's it.

Anyone had similar issues?

Any fixes?

Can you see if dry yeast is "alive" when re hydrating?

I have a few packets of dry yeast that has been left lying around in a drawer for 12 months. I haven't bothered to brew for ages. Now with the current situation I would like to start getting my stocks of beer back up. I have ordered some fresh yeast I it should be here next week but i would like to ...

Re: 9 month old IPA in a corny

Well it's not sour so I guess no infection. However, it had a leak from the "out" post, which had lost a few litres very slowly over time. It held pressure but only just so it hadn't carbonated. It is very hazy though. It was made from a recipe kit from The Homebrew Company with my Grainfather. I ha...

9 month old IPA in a corny

Well the Mrs had me building shelves in the utility room today. I haven't brewed for months and all my corny kegs were in there, in amongst what thought were all empties, was a full keg of IPA I brewed in December last year. Tried the PRV and it seems to have held a good seal, plenty of CO2. The uti...

Re: Beer engine + polypins

I have used a beer engine and polypins a lot. However I drink a bit more than 8 pints a week. SO I don't have any longevity problems. :) My beer engine has a non return valve and I always ensure I get good seals and don't air to back fill the polypin. The beer engine draws hard enough to pull the be...

Re: Ordered a Brewie! Have any good recepies?

I see that The Malt Miller had a massive price drop on the Brewie.

It's now out of stock, I wonder if he sold any or has just given up?

I quite liked the look of it and would of probably of took a punt on it at the reduced price over my Grainfather, might of been a lucky escape!

Re: The Bulldog Master Brewer All in One System

I had problems with stuck mashes on my Grainfather. Kingfisher on here, recommended adding an extra 2 litres of water in the mash and reducing the sparge volume by 2 litres. (On a 23 litre batch). It definitely helped. However, the biggest issue seemed to be over-crushed grain from the supplier, whe...

Re: My first Corny keg attempt - nothing but foam

I had a similar problem the other week, I think it was caused by over priming for secondary, something I don't normally do. What I did was vent off with the PRV until it stopped or too much foam started to come out, (do it outside!), then leave for a few hours and then repeat. It took multiple vents...

Lambic infection - when do they show?

Well I brewed a Saaz lager 3 weeks back.

I kegged it today and a bit of a funny smell to it. Slighly "lambic".

I taste it and it didn't have a sour taste to it. Would it be noticeable immediately?

I've kegged it anyway and I am wondering if it's going to go sour while conditioning?
