Hop seedlings

A couple of years ago (I think) I collected some seeds from a batch of Ernest hops and planted them. Only one plant has survived, and I think this is it's second year, my question is, if it is female will it produce any cones this year, just so I know it will be worth keeping? Or is there any other ...

Re: What's the point ?

I was only looking this morning at plants that contain nootropic ingredients (there is a BBC article about low alcohol beers this morning that prompted me to look), and I've been wanting to make a beer flavoured with different herbs and plants for a while. Mine will still have alcohol in though =D>

Re bitter like you used to drink in the past have you experimented using sugars?
To be fair only in one brew, and that was only because I needed to up the gravity, it wasn't by design. It would give me a lower FG I suppose.

Re: The Great Reset (not the conspiracy theory!)

Umm, two of the beers you've mentioned, Exmoor Gold and Landlord, are way above the 3.6%--3.8% you're trying to brew. Not being difficult, just thought I'd mention it! Guy Didn't make myself clear there, in the last year or so I've been trying to replicate the bitters I drank as a youth, they would...

The Great Reset (not the conspiracy theory!)

I've spent too much time over the past 18 months trying to recreate the bitters that I used to drink when I was much, much younger, without the success that I would have liked. Not failures, perfectly good beers, just not quite what I was after. As I've said before, achieving a good 3.6% to 3.8% tra...

Re: Torbay area breweries

Teign Cellars, Cider Bar, Maltings Taphouse - all in Newton Abbot. Regular service on No 12 bus - about 20 mins. Hope the suggestion was not too late. It was for this trip, got back Sunday night after a nightmare drive due to the heavy rain down there, but useful info for next trip, thank you! Judg...

Re: Torbay area breweries

Surely somebody on here must be familiar with the Brixham, Paignton and Torquay area? Or is it just not a particularly good spot for beer?

Re: Home grown hops 2023

I didn't get round to buying any dwarf hops this year, or moving any of my existing Challenger plants. I had high hopes of them earlier in the year, they were doing quite well but the very wet and cold July here seems to have set them back. Flowers are appearing and I think I'll still get more than ...

I emailed Shepherd Neame and they confirmed that the yeast in the 1698 bottles is the same as it was fermented with.

Re: Where is the thin bleach? and what can I use instead?

This is the best and the cheapest cleaner/sanitiser money can buy. One teaspoon(5gr) per 25 litres is the dose.that makes 5000 litres for £13 https://swimmingpoolchemicals.co.uk/chlorine-shock-calcium-hypochlorite-granules-1kg.html Doesn't sound like it stores well: - "We recommend that you only bu...

1000÷5=200×25=5000. You should have paid attention in your mathematics lessons.
IPA you should have paid attention to your reading classes...
