Grainfather - Replacing temp probe

Hi All Looking to get a longer length temp probe from the grainfather control unit? Is there an easy option to do this or am i going to have to open the control box up and replace from there? If this can be done, any suggestions on kit needed for this? Looking to go to around 2M in length if possibl...

Re: Floating dip tube for corny

Quick update What seemed to work was adding a wing nut close to the float ball which then held the beer in pipe under the surface of the beer. Some continued foaming, though this could be that i had to re-carb the beer with CO2. I'll check this later tonight as it will have had 24 hours to settle. A...

Re: Floating dip tube for corny

Thanks F00b4r Where did you get those from? Any dimensions i need to order? I've slightly altered the connection to the floating valve and gone for a 6.7mm ID tubing. All cleaned and santised, will look to add it to the corny this evening and see if i have any success. Otherwise, looks like it could...

Re: Floating dip tube for corny

Thanks IPA

Let me check as i may already have some of this.

Any advice on cutting to length or will the weight help? Was thinking of weighting it down with some marbles in a small nylon mesh filter type bag.

Looks like the weight could be the issue.

Thanks again

Re: Floating dip tube for corny

Evening All I have added a couple of the Angel HomeBrew fermentasaurus floating dip tubes to a couple of Corny kegs. When the keg is full, they work perfectly, when the key gets to 1/2 full, i get a foaming issue. I de-pressurised the keg and opened it up to find the float onto but the with beer in ...

Re: Wilco's Mexican Lager kit

Hi Jocky It's at serving when i noticed this, once it has been under CO2 in the corny. I've ordered some standard brewing sugar so will give this a go this weekend. Also tempted to transfer to secondary fermenter after fermentation has finished (or should i leave it sitting on the yeast for a furthe...

Wilco's Mexican Lager kit

Evening all I'm having some issues with the Wilco's mexican lager kit coming out brown instead of a straw colour similar to Corona. I brewed this years ago (different kit and i can't remember the ingredients i used) and had good success, since i am back brewing, i've changed my kit and am now gettin...

Re: Brewing a lager using a kit, lager yeast and a brew fridge

Thanks WA Liking the summer pint idea, though i do need to crack the basics before getting adventurous. Issue in a thread above, getting a caramel taste to the beer. From reading here, it looks like the fermentation temp suggested 18-24 might be where i am going wrong. Looking at the following Looki...

Re: Brewing a lager using a kit, lager yeast and a brew fridge

great advice and schedule in the post, will almost certainly follow to avoid my poor results so far.

Any reason for doubling the yeast?

Thanks

Re: Caramel Taste to beer

May have gone slightly off topic here, does the below look ok? Just need to know fermentation temps as bulldog giving an 18-24 range which maybe causing my problems. Looking at two weeks to ferment (is 14 too high or should I go for 12)? Crash cool to 4 degrees for one week then transfer to the corn...
