ESF caused a storm and a lot of drooling when someone here ordered a 60 ltr set up. This was around 2009.
ESF still going strong. Any JBK members here using one??

Re: Northdown & Cascade for Christmas - White Deer
There’s more hops in the photo as did a 46 ltr brew, suggested recipe provided is 23 ltr. Have a play with it, it’s based around a 3.8% beer, 20 ibu region. Have tried more late hops before, didn’t work for me. The recipe is for one of my favourite beers, brewed and served up this way. That’s the be...

Re: Northdown & Cascade for Christmas - White Deer
Hi Mashbag, Sorry for delay in replying. Try this: 3.8kg pale malt 60g crystal, if you’ve only got dark, go 25g, don’t bother if you haven’t got any. 190g torrified wheat, don’t bother if you haven’t got any. 4kg pale nails it, the other malts tweak it. ND 10g 60 min ND 8g 30 min Cascade 12g 30 min ...

Beer Dispenser.
A visit to the pub doesn’t seem as enjoyable as before. Had some great beers in the garden but felt a bit naff pouring from the tap on a corny keg.
Knocked this up and have a full corny of Blacksheep to test it with. Corny is in the fridge keeping it chilled.

Re: Jester Hops
This hop is all ‘ pungent with green onion, chive-like, and dank aroma and flavor characteristics ’. Jeez, dry hopped one corny with NS. I've never got that from NS, Mosaic on the other hand... 🤢 You are right K1000t, I don’t agree with their description of NS, it’s up there with citra as a favouri...

Re: Home Grown Hops 2019
Try B & M if you have one local. Got a couple of 55 ltr ones for about £4.50 each.
Something like this https://www.bmstores.co.uk/products/bla ... 0cm-291242
Think the 50cm works out at 70ltrs.

Re: Home Grown Hops 2019
The pot looks a tad small, there are quite a few bines on too.

Re: Jester Hops
Hops are a resinous, green flower, and from what Snoop Dogg taught me, so too is that sticky icky icky. But the similarities between hops and weed go well beyond how they look and feel. Not only did scientists confirm in 2012 that the two plants are genetically related, belonging to Cannabinaceae fa...

Re: Jester Hops
These hops need a caveat. Head brewer, 7 years ago, told me hops were related to cannabis plant. Fair play. Now I like NS hops, wasn’t sure why, but these Jesters are very dodgy.

3 pints is how I would imagine Space Cake.

Re: Elements for 50l kettle - before I buy!
Been using 2 x Peco elements in my 50 ltr pot and very happy with them. Have read the negative posts and did get concerned after ordering some. When they arrived some small flux residue was visible but rubbed off with a damp cloth. Not had any rust problems at all and don’t envisage any. Recommend 2...

Re: Jester Hops
I corny kegged the Smash Jester on Thursday . The citra/dry hop yesterday. Quality test of Jester Smash, brewed last Saturday. It is Okay,,, But won’t buy anymore. Definitely a one off. Even the dry hop of citra and ns isn’t great. It’s like trying to polish a turd. Doesn’t work. My jester, is a jok...

Re: Dry hopping, terminology confusion.
The phrase 'wet hopping' seems to be the problem here. I think it's a made-up phrase that has no meaning to most brewers. Since most brewers don't use wet hops, as they don't store well, I guess those who do like to talk about it. It's a selling point, I guess. 'We're wet hopping our beers' probabl...

Re: Jester Hops
Fermentation is well finished, dry hopped with jester in one of the fermenters 2 days ago. Watched this before buying the hops, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lo3nySK-xLY , Anyway, having a sample out of the fermenter - it is the weirdest hop I’ve tasted. Really weird, get the earthy, musky, a late b...
