Re: TTL: Caramelize or not?
I went the crystal malt route as well. I brewed my TTL inspired beer Saturday and used Wyeast 1469. I rather liked 1469 in a mild I brewed the last time it was out.

Re: rigwelter
I have heard some rumors that Wyeast is doing the Tim Taylor yeast again this fall. I can't say for sure this is 100% accurate but I listened to this podcast farily recently. S. G. 1056 Marris Otter 80% Crystal Malt 6% (I don't recall the EBC or SRM) Pale chocolate 5% torrified wheat 9% IBUs 35 with...

Re: Yeast suggestion
Telling everyone Your My Best Mate Ahh thanks, Steve. Back to yeast though - not a fan of US-05 as I don't get yeast flavor out of it. Never use it anymore sub 4%. I can see where people like it when they want the hops to shine thru. Guess I am a maltworm rather than a hophead. Oh and do I call mys...

Fly,
Let me know if you find any decent o-rings here in the states.
Mine all need to be replaced as well.

Re: Different crushes from different suppliers
My efficiency has tanked of late with Crisps MO - I suspect my bag o malt is from last year when many others were reporting drops in eff.
I changed mash tuns at the same time as I got the new bag of malt so I am not 100% sure it is the malt.

Re: USUK Bitter
Nicing looking brew there. Surprisingly I rarely brew with US hops (US fuggles and Willamette being the only exceptions that come to mind). I have been using Wyeast 1318 a lot of late. It seems to give a slight bready flavor to my beers - maybe that is the malt coming thru more. I don't get much fru...

Re: SUMMER HONEY ALE
My best results with honey - add the honey to the fermenter after primary fermentation has largely subsided. I diluted the honey in a litre of water when I added it. The honey effect in terms of flavor and aroma was subtle. I think I used about 10% of my fermentables (can't access my recipes at the ...

Re: How many generations
Benjy,
I think others on the forum here found WLP 002 to be problematic when storing - I don't recall the specific issues people were having but the consensus was that it didn't store well long term in the fridge.

Ahh the H Hillbilly booze stash - is always a sight!
The Porter looks like a nice addition. I still haven't gotten around to brewing the lager after how many years now but think I will add the porter to my to brew list as well.

Re: Real Ale & 02
The temps do help get the wort down to pitching temp quickly!
My experience with forced carbing and priming is the same as Chris.
Once they have sat for a bit the carbonation seems the same.

Re: Real Ale & 02
I will try it on the next keg. I doubt I will come up with a strong opinion as to flavor but I should be able to tell if it gets oxidized. I am always surprised how much my beer changes from day to day - mostly based on my mood, thirst and what I have eaten I suspect. One day I think the beer is ama...
