My version of OP using Graham’s recipe.
Bottled another version yesterday that had 100g of Lyles Black Treacle added to see what it brings.

Usually the temperature sensor is placed at the exit of the HERMS coil where the wort temperature is at its highest.

I don’t live in the UK l am in Australia. Most tap water in and around Melbourne/Victoria is very soft, very little alkalinity. I live in a rural area where we don’t have a mains water supply. We collect the rain water from the roof which goes into large tanks (around 50,000 litres) and is supplied ...

The water where l live is extremely soft, no hardness at all.
No treatment needed except adding brewing salts.

I use Citric Acid made up in a spray bottle.
It dissolves the protein gunk on the elements nicely, just requires a wipe down.
