Re: “Home Brew” taste

it's a few years since I 'brewed' a kit, but I found that the stout kits were much more successful that the light and hoppy kits.

S30 valve on King Keg - extension lead

Hi, I keeps my king keg, with a S30 valve, in a small fridge. When the time comes to top up the gas, I have to lift the barrel out of the fridge to screw on the cylinder. Does anybody have any ideas on how to permanently attach a length of hose to the top of Valve so that I can add co2 without pulli...

Re: Using Elderflower

The last time I did it (quite a few years ago) I used a whole bottle of about 500ml. The taste/aroma of elderflower is quite subtle and I would try not to overpower it with too much US hops.

Re: Using Elderflower

I have tried making elderflower flavoured beer using fresh flowers several times without much success. If you introduce the flowers to the boil, the aromas are boiled off, if you us them as a 'dry hop' there is a strong possibility that you will introduce wild yeasts. The best solution I found was u...

Re: The marmalade in Fullers

I have been drinking Fullers all my life and there is definitely an orangey twang to the beers, especially in the bottles. My old Dad would never touch ESB because of the strength. He used to call it Burton Ale because that was what he said it was called in the 1970s.

I'm not sure my border terrier could manage 10kg dog dog treats every two weeks

Re: Admiral single hop IPA

I love Admiral in an ESB type ale. It reminds me of bitter orange marmalade on toast

Re: Spent grain disposal - what do you do with it?

No problem putting it down the drain. No worse that the total solids flushed down a drain by a large household in a day. I have a mate who has a waste disposal unit and all his vegetable waste goes down the sink - it's what they are designed for.

How many kilos at a time do you put into the communal sewerage system?

6kg or so. Takes a bit of washing away but it goes eventually

Re: Spent grain disposal - what do you do with it?

During the summer I spread it on the borders in the garden. In the winter (or when it's raining) I flush them down the sink
