Stupidly high efficiency on the brew monk

So, after a 4 month hiatus, I decided to get a brew on today. Thought my day had been mapped out for me, when weighing my grains, my scales packed up and had to go and get some more ( not a good start ). All gone nice and smooth and looking at my notes, the last time a brewed this particular beer ( ...

Re: Hot water cylinder tipping mash tun build

Old thread I know, but I noticed you have used an SS DHW cylinder, which I am currently in the process of doing myself, but I also noticed you have used brass caps and fitting, and also some copper. Have you noticed any reaction regarding electrolysis? I only ask because as a heating engineer, when ...

Re: Fining with gelatine

I did pop it into the keg after I transferred the beer. The beer was in my fermenter in the fridge for nearly 2 days prior to kegging. This is a lager so I wanted it to be crystal clear. I did brew the exact same batch and the same yeast a while back and seemed to take forever for the yeast to and h...

Re: Fining with gelatine

But surely if you bottle condition then there must be sediment somewhere in the bottle? I have never been lucky enough to pour the entire contents of a bottle without getting yeast in it. Even when I have had my last bottle, which could be in the fridge 3 months before opening, I always seem to get ...

Re: Fining with gelatine

I have cooled the the fermenter in the fridge.
I don't usually do secondary and just keg/bottle from primary, never usually a problem with clarity but M-54 yeast seems to hang about for a while.
Beer is currently at 8°c and I find doesn't floc out as well as stated.

Fining with gelatine

Hi all, wasn't sure where abouts to post this, so hope it's ok here. I am going to give fining with gelatine a go today, question is, would it be better to add to my fermenter while the beer is cold, or would it be better to adding to the keg once the cold beer is transferred? I would think in the f...

Kegerator from a 500mm width fridge

Hi all, finally got myself into kegging and managed to get 2 kegs into a 500mm width fridge. Was tight and a fair amount of cutting was needed but I got it done. I wasn't even sure if this fridge would work, let alone fit 2 kegs into it. Had been sat unused in my garage for about 6 years and was ama...

Impromptu Lager Brew Day

So, after having just finished my Keg, I decided at 6pm after work today, I would get a brew on. Got in, planned a recipe, treated water and mashed in by 7pm. Smooth brew day, decided to carry out a sparge today, usually carry out full volume in my brew monk, but wanted to see if the extra little bi...

Post boil gravity calculation

Hi everyone, just a quick one. I recently brewed an English Golden Ale and the Brew went really well. I did have one slight issue however, my pre boil gravity was 1.046 @ 31 liters and I ended up with 1.046 @ 27 liters post boil. Now I know this is wrong and I guess my wort wasn't mixed well before ...

Re: Kegging question

Hi Nashbrew, thanks for the reply. This kit does also come with an adapter for soda stream bottles, which I will get one just incase I take it to a friend's or something like that, however mostly will be connected to a large Co2 tank. It will just have the one reg on it. According to brewfather, my ...
