Wow thanks guys!! This place is really great for things like this ie getting ideas on obscure beer recipes from the past. Thanks so much for your help and ideas - I'll be doing the recipes and see what I think. It'll be interesting to see if it matches what I remember soooo long ago. Cheers again!!

Recently a few of my mates were talking about our times in Liverpool in the early seventies (yes I'm that old) and we all said how good the Higsons beers were then. A Google search didn't bring up anything so I thought that some of you guys may have a recipe for it?? Here's hoping!

Hmmm not a bad idea that. I like the idea of adding it to a gallon of fruit wine. Sounds good.

Ah, brilliant Tom. No I haven't heard back from the kit makers yet but that confirms my suspicion that the bag is a sweetening agent. . Thanks for that, it's cleared things up and I think I won't add it at all.

It looks as though there's about 1 litre of liquid in there. The pot sorbate is in another small packet.

Hi Quick question for those with more experience than me. I have a 23l kit of Moselle white wine on the go and there is an extra bag of concentrate that you add later in the process. My question is : does this bag add more sweetness to the finished product or is it a flavour enhancer?? We prefer dry...
