Re: BM mash time

Hello MB, In fact I do run away after I’ve cooled to 40c (cooling jacket in 2021 BM not very efficient) and transferred to the FV and cleaned up. Brewtime 4.5 hrs from start to FV stage best so far. I leave the FV outside with an airlock fitted and clamping lid until I’ve reached pitching temp somet...

Re: BM mash time

I mash at 66c for 60 mins and 10 mins at 72c so the time taken to get to the higher temperature is nearing 90 mins total. I’ll try a 60 min mash at 66c next brew. Always trying to save time on brew day.

I should of course have recognised that the tip came from your post in the first place so belated thanks for the advice.

Re: Bock in a Braumeister

Hi IPA,
I wondered when someone would notice that! Hopefully I will improve with my next efforts as I picked up on the tips from the forum using protofloc gelatine and Brewbrite - I bought the latter from the malt miller and will be using it in my next brew.
Cheers

Re: Bock in a Braumeister

Here is my Bock since I used WLP 860 yeast which is allegedly from Augustiner I thought the stein was appropriate for the photo 😀. It actually drinks pretty well for my first ever attempt at a lager cheers for good Easter brews!

Re: Bock in a Braumeister

Thanks for the auto correct explanation that makes sense now. I thought the yeast might need a bit longer hence the airlock on the secondary for the first week or so. It came down to the FG of 1015 in the recipe I followed so let’s see how it finishes up. I’ll let you know if it’s good bad or indiff...

Bock in a Braumeister

Have made my first ever Bock lager in my BM20. I have no idea how my schedule will work but I took advantage of the cold spell in Jan here in the UK with the following: 21 Jan starter WLP860 (Augustiner yeast evidently) 22 Jan brew 10c for 8 days 4 day diacetyl rest @ 17/18c 6 week lager @3-5c in se...

Re: Ultratap Flow Control Twist

I recently took delivery of the Ultra twist. The twist function has certainly improved on the standard tap in terms of the amount of co2 and head control I achieve out of the keg. I have since bought the after sale spring and can’t fit it properly into the faucet I have. I’ll have to keep googling f...

Cobnut, something using centennial hops for your 100 up would be appropriate.
