But for me the hobby is about producing the best beer I can - mastering a craft - while still having fun. It's not for everyone, but I like to do all the little things to stack the deck in my favour of getting the best result possible.
I would have thought thats the same for most brewers.

Re: Small tank of oxygen for aeration?

Why not keep it simple. Just drop the wort into your Fv from your boiler.
Then thrash it for a few minutes with a plastic paddle to get a nice big frothy top.
Has worked well for me over the last 30 odd years.

Re: Braumeister fermenting lid

70 Euro for a lid to ferment in a boiler on top of trub and debris, instead of using a nice clean FV and keeping it in a temperature controller fridge makes no sense to me.

Re: Good Bitter Recipe Wanted (c4.5%)

I used the Lallemand London ESB yeast when it 1st came out and thought it was real good used in a bitter, its not fullers but was very good. I have recently bought and plan to use another Lallemand yeast, this time a Premium series english ale yeast called London. Im hopeful it will leave a little s...

Re: HELP---Wort daker than I thought

Assuming the white wheat was malted, with 2.5kg of that and 2.5kg of pale malt at 23L, The colour should be around 8 to 9 Ebc, which is pale. Sort of lager or pale ale colour. If its darker, maybe some of the wort got a bit burnt during the boil. If you had taken a hydrometer reading using a test ja...

Re: First brew (Courage Directors) and question

Just to add to the great advise above. Try to avoid getting any air into the beer when transferring to either a secondary or bottles, try not to splash or stir it too vigorously, you may oxygenate it. Its ok to thrash it at the very start of fermentation to give the yeast plenty of oxygen but not at...

No, I just went and watched it and thought it was a complete waste of time, So thought I would comment on it as requested by the OP.
I thought it might save others from wasting time on this useless video.
