Re: kegging and bottling

Bottling should be done by siphoning the beer straight to the bottom of the bottle only to avoid oxidisation.

Probably simpler to prime your bottles with dry sugar via a funnel and let the siphoning process mix the sugar into your beer.

I'm not sure Dave Line or Graham Wheeler would subscribe to that view. (FG1000 that is). What books are you reading? ;)

Is there any difference in strength between the first and second batches in a batch sparge?
Could you just not run half of each sparge off into each vessel?

Re: Receipe for a Cobra or Kingfisher

I have'nt got the equipment to do a full Mash Brew. If anyone had done one I'd be happy to know how it turned out, or if you know the ingr...

Re: Yeast floating in FV

Cool! It just seems strange as there seems to be little (if any) noise/movement in this one where the youngs went off like a rocket! I will just stay cool! Ta, Nath The level of aeration of this one might have been less, so the yeast may be taking longer to multiply - or it could be a strain or yea...

Re: Czech lager: 12 weeks conditioning period

Mike I don't know an exact answer to this, but if this is a cold lagering period typical of Czech Budwars etc., then I suspect that the traditional method would be to put it in a lagering barrel for 12 weeks at around 6 - 7 degrees subject to you having used a suitable yeast in the first place or ha...

I'd go with Garth, leave the brewbelt off and just leave the bottles a little while longer.

Re: adding hops to coopers ipa

The better quality the malt you use the better the result IMO, although i would see no real harm in trying Coopers own recommendation on your first kit in this range, at least to give you a baseline to experiment from. The received wisdom on the subject of dry hopping would be to tie your hops in a ...
