Re: Bulldog Saison Yeast
Yes - I've used wlp590 French saison several times and loved it. Ferments very well and easy to use.

Re: Bulldog Saison Yeast
Hi, not tried the Belle Saison or Mangrove Jacks yet, but may well do. It's great that there are now so many options with dry yeast!
Re the 1.003 - yep, that's just the yeast (that and a fairly low temp mash). I love saison yeasts!

An update on this- pitched on 10th May, started at 18c and then ramped up gradually to 27, Now letting it drop back and will cold crash in a couple of days. It's gone from 1.057 to 1.003, all looking good so far.

Bulldog Saison Yeast
Hi, I've been given a free packet of Bulldog saison yeast - http://www.bulldogbrews.co.uk/products/bulldog-beer-yeast/b16-belgian-saison-beer-yeast.html Apparently this is a new range of dry yeasts from Hambleton Bard. I'm brewing a grapefruit saison soon and will report back on the yeast, but wonde...

Re: Overnight Mashing
I tend to mash in the evening (standard length mash), then leave the wort in the kettle overnight on a timer switch set to start about 20 minutes before I get up the next morning. No problems with this so far.

Re: No chill brewing and hop usage
Thanks for all the comments. Most of the beers I'm brewing at the moment aren't hop dominated, so I think I'll just start by leaving the recipes as is for now and see how it goes. I like the idea of shifting late additions to dry hopping. A lot of this for me is to do with time saving, so I can brew...

Another vote for Hop and Grape, they will do exact quantities crushed or whole.

No chill brewing and hop usage
I'm looking into no chill brewing, primarily to save time and water. I've read quite lot about it, but am confused by the issue of hop usage. Lots of the information I've seen says that, due to increased contact time with the hops at high temperature, all hop additions should be pushed back later in...

Re: Home Made Electric Boiler?
Another recommendation for the Copper Kettle buckets - http://www.copperkettlehomebrewing.co.uk/home-brewing-products/180/30-litre-or-60-litre-pp-buckets I've just replaced my 10 year old plastic bucket and the new Copper Kettle one is identical. I had been concerned as had heard that the new bucket...

Re: HLT Controller
Hi,
It's an Inkbird - not sure of the model number. My main concern is the SSR wiring - is it correct that the live routes via terminals 1 and 2 on the SSR, and the neutral routes via the PID and terminals 3 and 4 on the SSR?

Re: HLT Controller
Hi,
It's an Inkbird - I will check the PID connections in the manual when I get it, but wanted to check that the routing input - PID - SSR - output looks OK.

Re: HLT Controller
Hi, having now ordered a PID, can anyone confirm that this is the correct wiring for a single element controller?
