Re: Flaked oats and torrified wheat in extract recipes?

Usual grain:water ratio is 1:2.5. That is, 1kg grain to 2.5 litres of water. Not sure what that is in American weights and volumes!

Would a stainless ½" bsp lever v as lve fit it?

Hops battery idea, mangrove Jack's hop spider. Sensible money. Really good bit of kit.
Hop battery--Hmmm. Could it replace the lithium batteries in cars?

Interesting idea.

Re: Beer Engine gone wonky

You are so wrong, Mashy! Didn't you read my earlier post where I explained it was a compatibility issue with the screen resolution?

Probably not.

Do try to keep up!

Re: Beer Engine gone wonky

IT'S WORKING!!!!! I've got Beer Engine working all by myself. Very pleased, and I can show off to my IT mate when he rings later this morning! The solution? Right clicked the desktop icon>properties>compatibility. The 'Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution' box was ticked. I thought I'd see what happen...

Re: Beer Engine gone wonky

Thanks Peebee My IT savvy mate is going to link into my machine tomorrow to try and sort this out. If Graham's Beer Engine can't be made to work I'll try the one you've linked to. Does it allow a calculation of mash and total efficiency as Beer Engine does? And is it possible to print the recipe out...

Re: Beer Engine gone wonky

Looks perfect oz11. Very strange. A mate of mine is a whizz with IT. Perhaps I'll invite him round to have a look--in exchange for a few beers, of course!

Re: Beer Engine gone wonky

Yup, ginormous, and I can't make it smaller. I tried all the possible compatibility modes (see above), but none are any good. Time to look for a new recipe generator. One which allows me to calculate efficiency and add whatever grains and hops I want to. Plus allows me to print the recipe out to tak...

Re: Beer Engine gone wonky

Find the .exe file and right click it Choose 'properties' Click the 'compatibility' tab Check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for" then try the different options to see which one works best Thanks, but no good. I've just tried all the compatibility modes and they all look huge! Eric...

Hi PeeBee

So, what should I do to be able to use Beer Engine again, please?

Re: Beer Engine gone wonky

Well, that was a bit of a disaster! Windows offered me a 'tool' to correct things if it wasn't displaying properly. I used it and Beer Engine became huge, showed just a very small percentage of the page and couldn't be changed. Completely useless. So I uninstalled and re- installed. Re-started the c...

Beer Engine gone wonky

I've just got a lovely new all in one PC running Windows 11. It's great, except Graham's Beer Engine doesn't display properly.

Screen shot attached.

I've uninstalled it and re-installed with no improvement.

Anyone got any good idea, please?

Thanks.

Checking Graham's water treatment calculator

Just setting up for a brew day tomorrow.

Looking at GW's water treatment calculator it has a ratio of 8:1, sulphate:chloride for a Burton pale ale. Aside from the fact my water can't achieve this, is this ratio right? Seems incredibly high in sulphate.

Thanks.

Re: The Great Reset (not the conspiracy theory!)

Umm, two of the beers you've mentioned, Exmoor Gold and Landlord, are way above the 3.6%--3.8% you're trying to brew.

Not being difficult, just thought I'd mention it!

Did you brew this?
Yup. Started it on Thursday September 21st. Kegged it yesterday, 27th. So easy to make!

Once it's cleared and I've had a chance to taste it I'll post a review.
