Re: 2 batches poured down the drain!

I think that the answer lies here. "I had stuck a supposedly waterproof probe on it - it's in a plastic tube which is clearly leaky as it's full of liquid" Much better to attach the probe to the outside of the FV. Or even better install a thermowell. Not sure, IPA. The probe was in the mash. Any in...

Re: 2 batches poured down the drain!

Sympathies, drjim. Somehow it always feels personal when a batch of beer has to be chucked away. Getting rid of two batches is way beyond horrible. As to the reason: an infection has clearly ruined these two beers, but the question is why? Non-viable brewing yeast allowing wild yeast and bacteria to...

Re: Bittering/Aroma hop ratio

If the bittering:aroma hop ratio was only one value, you'd only get one type of beer. The only variations would be the malts used and the variety of hop used.

Vary it as much as you want, cc986. Brew beers to the taste and aroma you want.

Re: Hop suppliers (whole)

Perhaps you haven't noticed the button at the top of the hop page where you have to select whole or pellet hops? You can't look at both at the same time.

Re: Hop suppliers (whole)

Got to be The Malt Miller, surely? What quantities are you looking for? I'm sure TMM can accommodate whatever you want. Guy I have tried them several times, Guy. Predominantly pellets! Possibly, but 41 different types of hole cone hops available today. How many choices do you want?!! Guy

Re: Flaked oats and torrified wheat in extract recipes?

Usual grain:water ratio is 1:2.5. That is, 1kg grain to 2.5 litres of water. Not sure what that is in American weights and volumes!

Would a stainless ½" bsp lever v as lve fit it?

Hops battery idea, mangrove Jack's hop spider. Sensible money. Really good bit of kit.
Hop battery--Hmmm. Could it replace the lithium batteries in cars?

Interesting idea.

You are so wrong, Mashy! Didn't you read my earlier post where I explained it was a compatibility issue with the screen resolution?

Probably not.

Do try to keep up!

Re: Beer Engine gone wonky

IT'S WORKING!!!!! I've got Beer Engine working all by myself. Very pleased, and I can show off to my IT mate when he rings later this morning! The solution? Right clicked the desktop icon>properties>compatibility. The 'Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution' box was ticked. I thought I'd see what happen...
