Re: How much beer left in Cornie Keg?
Cheers Vacant. So it weighs 14.9Kg - 4.5kg = 10.4kg = 10.4L = 18.3 pints. Anyone agree/disagree?

How much beer left in Cornie Keg?
HI All How do people calculate how much beer is left in their keg? Have seen calculators which weigh the keg to estimate remaining beer but I guess ABV% and CO2 absorption are also a factor? What techniques/calculators do people use? (Or simply drink it 'till it's gone!) I have an AEB 19L purchased ...

Re: Lactose for NEIPA?
Thanks guys, will certainly give it more time. pH was adjusted using CRS so should be ballpark (used a calculator but didn't measure actual pH). We shall see. I'll give it another 2 weeks or so.

Lactose for NEIPA?
Hi All Been a while. Brewed a NEIPA with Lallemand Verdant and a ton of hops (dry hopped for 48 hrs before kegging). Mashed at 66C (should prob have aimed for higher) - after 5 days in the keg it's still a little astringent (could be hop burn so will give it a little while longer) so was considering...

Re: Trub dam on the SS Brewtech 10gal kettle
Thanks All. I currently use a bazooka filter but quite honestly, with the blockages I'm getting from both leaf and pellet, I'll probably use a hop bag to boil the hops in. Unless the Brewtech really can handle a lot of pellets being chucked in...

Trub dam on the SS Brewtech 10gal kettle
HI All Going to making the move to induction with a Buffalo CE208 and am researching kettles. Really like the look of the SS Brewtech 10gal (NON BME version) but wondered about hop filtering. Does the trub dam work just as well for flowers as it does for pellets? (I'll likely be using both based on ...

Sorachi Ace
Check Brooklyn's Sorachi Ace or even Adnams/M&S Sorachi Saison. Lovely distinctive flavour. I always get strong citrus and dill which I love. Can instantly spot SA in other beers now.

Re: Sorachi Ace
Not brewed with SA yet although keen so following this one. One observation though: I'd bump up the dry hop amount. Maybe double it? Or is that because you're being cautious?

Re: Dry hop my American Saison?
I would then crank the brew fridge up to 24, 26 or even higher to let Belle Saison express itself properly... and I would not dry hop the saison version. You shouldn't have to with Belle Saison. It performs perfectly well at standard temps. The Dupont strain is a different story. hmmm. quick read s...

Re: Dry hop my American Saison?
Sold - I'll pull the US05 from the fridge, up the temp on the Saison and avoid dry hopping. Thanks chaps. (I had to ask myself what I was trying to achieve here.)

Dry hop my American Saison?
Hi All Have made a split batch (2 x 12.5L) to compare US05 with Danstar's Belle Saison. Recipe is for an Rye APA (Magnum for bittering, aroma is a bit of Chinook, then a Amarillo/Falconer's Flight combo). Will be dry hopping the US05 version but wonder if dry hopping the Saison will overpower it? Ar...

Re: Reiterated or double/triple mash
Cool, glad to see some people have tried it. The description in BYO seems a bit of a faff so what would happen if I just did a normal mash with sparge, then used hot wort as liquor for second mash? Think I'll need to do some sums here ... Just trying to keep it as simple as possible!

Reiterated or double/triple mash
https://byo.com/bock/item/1317-reiterated-mashing-multiple-mashes-for-massive-brews Anyone tried this? Using your first runnings wort as the liquor for a second mash with new grain? I'm sure I read somewhere that the practice ("Double Beers") was outlawed in England at some point. Whatever, it's an ...
