Re: CO2 Regulator panic

I think its right, the regulator is definitely 1/2 female (tried with a spare plumbing fitting) but I can't find a hydraulic fitting of the type I need online anywhere. Could you point me to a few?

I found one on eBay but it is a strange version and not cheap.

Cheers,
Dean.

Re: CO2 Regulator panic

Thanks Kev. You kick starts a more targetted Google. It seems like UK gas bottles are 5/8 male and this regulator is 1/2 female. One blimmin size apart! I haven't got anything with a 5/8 female thread to check but that makes sense. Now where on earth can I find a 5/8 female x 1/2 male nut/reducer/ad...

CO2 Regulator panic

Hi guys, So my very shiny but very cheap Chinese gas regulator just arrived. I have beer to carb. Feels like good built quality. I go to attach it to my gas cylinder and damnit the thread is ever so slightly smaller and it won't fit! Photo below. What have I done? Is there an adapter/workaround or h...

Sourcing stainless deck drains

Hello, I need to buy half a dozen 1/2 BSP stainless deck drains... or a similar bulkhead that could be used for a bottom drain. Where is the cheapest place to get them? I can wait. Just really adds up. Can't really see any on AliExpress or eBay, boating places are pricey and BrewBuilder only sells s...

Fruit wheat beer

Howdy. I have made wheat beer before, with varying degrees of success but enjoyed none the less. I would like one of the beers on tap at my wedding to be a wheat beer but I reckon that it would be fun to have a fruity one! Oils and malter wheat base, 50/50 and magnum for bittering. Munich yeast and ...

Re: Belgian beer using British grain?

As above, unless you are looking to make the very lightest of Tripels etc you will be fine with British malts. Nail the yeast (recommend WLP530 and Belle Saison), fermentation temperature (high and stable) and sugar content (lots) and you can still brew them just fine. Cheers, Dean. Sent from my SM-...

Here is a snap of the OG trial jar too for colour / wort composition.

Re: A very bitter bitter!

PS - Cringe as you see the huge amount of hops in the kettle at clear up time!

Sorry beer gods. I just wanted a pronounced old-school British hop flavour.

Cheers,
Dean.

Re: A very bitter bitter!

Evening all, some great replies here thank you! Not sure any of them actually solve the issue but here is some extra info first... - There was 100g of Black Malt but I should have been clearer that this was a 55-litre batch. - I don't think it has anything to do with the liquorice as I tasted that i...

Re: A very bitter bitter!

I hadn't thought about an extract batch to blend it with. Good idea. Although that could/would be quite pricey. The frustrating thing is that I can tell the beer is really great underneath the big bitterness. Clear, toasty, generally mellow. I suppose 25 litres of strong, dextrinous, mid-coloured an...

Re: A very bitter bitter!

I was planning to serve it from a cask via a beer engine but force carb and bottle any left over... I am not convinced that bitterness fades as rapidly as some people say either. Especially one as bitter as this. Brewing another 50 litres of non-bitter, bitter, seems sensible but that is a lot of br...

A very bitter bitter!

Hi everyone, I made a tasty bitter the other day but got carried away with the hops as I had a sack load of Goldings to use up. Unsurprisingly it has come out way too bitter even though I kept the IBU to 30 in BeerSmith. I don't think the fact that the beer is relatively dry (for drinkability and be...

Re: Brewing for a wedding

Time for an update on the steady progress... Thanks to the kind involvement of JBK members I am steadily collecting the gear I need. First off, the DIY cooled chamber idea was daft and proving to be a distraction. I have now managed to beg/borrow a suitable sized chest freezer from a friends garage ...
