Re: OB Bitter anyone ?

A quick update on this - now start of week 3 in the fermenter and will be bottled at the weekend :-) Slight change in the recipie, cheated and used Tate+Lyle syrup instead of No1 invert due to time constraints, but interested to see how it comes out. Will be asking my ex Oldham resident to give his ...

Re: Anybody got a recipe for Manx Pale Ale?

Back in my youth on IOM holidays I enjoyed the odd pint of Castletown bitter, i see its brewed by Okells now.
At the TT Shuttleworth Snap IPA and Piston Brew by Bushy's go down well too :-)

Anyone tried to clone any of these ?

OB Bitter anyone ?

Hi, I'm looking to brew a standard bitter, and while looking for a suitable candidate a workmate asked if I could brew a batch of Oldham Brewery Bitter, I have found out that the brewery was bought over a long time ago. As I have no idea what this tasted like, does anyone here remember, and maybe su...

Re: Anyone used the ESP8266

Fil, download the schematic and look at the PCB plan view here. https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-wifi-wireless-switch.html You should be able to identify the relay pins either side of the back EMF diode D2. Looking at the schematic shows the relay driver circuit ( bottom right on the schematic) and it's ...

Re: Anyone used the ESP8266

Hi Fil, On the sonoff the relay is gpio 12, the switch is 0 , green led is 13 and the 5th pin alongside the 3.3v,TX,Rx,and gnd is gpio 14. So you could use gpio 14 with a temp sensor and switch a heater/cooler with the relay for example. I have read guys with better eyesight than me have used other ...

Re: Anyone used the ESP8266

The nodemcu development modules are cheap enough to use, they can be powered and programmed directly by usb. One of these flashed with ESPeasy http://www.letscontrolit.com/wiki/index.php/ESPEasy is as simple as its going to get for use as a remote temperature sensor. I have lots of things around the...

Re: DIY Mini Keykeg... or not...

I am interested to see how this turns out too, my mate was suggesting this exact idea earlier in the week. Any idea yet what you might use for a bag, would a polypin work ? Maybe a simpler idea would be a tidied up and adjustable version of this on post #19 here - http://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthr...

Re: First AG today, question..

Yes, I sparged with approx 8l of hot water, I had misplaced my new hydrometer and test jar unfortunately, so no idea of OG. Opened a bottle 7 days after bottling, quite dry and a little too bitter for my tastes - hopefully it will mellow in a week or two. It was basically a test for my boiler and ma...

Re: First AG today, question..

This brew will be out of the fermentor soon, so on to the next one :-) I will be trying my hand at brewing this Dark Mild next as I have all the ingredients to hand and it looks fairly simple, not to mention ready to drink in a short period of time too.. Anyone on here tried it ? http://www.homebrew...

Re: First AG today, question..

Thanks for all the advice, it looks as if I was being a little to worried, the vigorous fermentation has reduced and the beer is starting to clear, cotton wool balls is exactly what it looked like. This brew was really to test my equipment, but if it tastes as good as it smells I shall be very happy...
