Re: A better spunding valve?

This is the valve I use along with bits from the old useless spunding valve.

I find it very granular and accurate.

Re: 15% Imperial Stout v Safale 05

This document from Fermentis gives the expected alcohol tolerance for their yeast strains which suggests that US-05 in not expected to reach 9.5% ABV.

Re: question for anyone that has done dennis king's galaxy delight

The perceived bitterness will increase once the beer has carbonated and is ready for serving.

Magnum is good, my preference at the moment for pilsners is perle for bittering and tettnang for aroma and flavour

Fermenting under pressure

Warning !! this post is a bit picture heavy. This all started after watching the brewing videos and reading the instruction manuals for the WilliamsWarn http://www.williamswarn.com/The-WilliamsWarn . What I particularly liked was that after pitching the yeast the beer never comes into contact with O...

Re: Recent problems with US-05?

My last 2 brews with US-05 just do not want to drop clear, one even had Magicol added but this didn't help much. Both also have an unusual flavour that I do not care for. [-X The last brew with US-05 was kegged, along with a couple of bottles, 27th September. Just checked and only the neck of the bo...

Re: Schneider clone WLP300 or 380?

My own opinion, after visiting the wonderful Schneider Weisse Bräuhaus in 2012, is that WLP380 fermented @ 20C will give you a closer favour profile than WLP300.

PS. Going back to the Schneider Weisse Bräuhaus in October \:D/

Re: Brewing a Hefeweizen with my Speidel Braumeister

Lovely bit of kit, I can really see the benefit of this system / RIMS etc. when it comes to these high adjunct beers. Thankyou for the detailed write-up :) Quick questions-> How does the brew-meister heat the wort? is it a concealed element under the pot? or in-line like a RIMS? cheers It's a stain...
