Re: Wilkinson’s 4inch pressure barrel

If it's a new barrel, the valve seals may have been on for a while, and stretched. I got caught out with that with a new King Keg many years ago, a full new set of valve seals cured it.

Re: Hambledon Bard refill S30 discontinued

Don't panic I will post a picture of an adapter that uses a normal gas bottle in conjunction with an S30 injector. I made it years ago when we moved to France where S30 cylinders are not available and no retailers will post them to France. Don't throw away your empty cylinders because the are neede...

Re: Hambledon Bard refill S30 discontinued

I was wondering the same myself Guy, what I copied from Hop & Grape's Facebook page above does seem to suggest that it's only the refills that are being discontinued.

Hambledon Bard refill S30 discontinued

Just seen this on Hop & Grape Facebook page: Hambleton Bard have today informed all homebrew stores that due to cost of production they will no longer be able to supply gas refills. All homebrew stores are extremely angry and frustrated as we know how many of their own customers rely on this method ...

I learned the hard way with the hangovers from hell BB, me being a typical Hillbilly, I decided to ignore the instructions as "I knew best".

Re: Tom Caxton Best Bitter

n my early days of brewing I brewed a Tom Caxton lager kit, Mrs H and I were in our courting days then and I decided to try out my new brewing skills to impress her. I did everything you should not do in those days regarding brewing, ie how much sugar does this kit need, 2lb on the instructions, I t...

Re: Pressure barrell leak

If it's a budget pressure barrel, don't push the tap to the fully closed position. Turn it back slightly to a 90 degree angle to the front of the barrel.

Re: Demise of Hop and Grape

Looks like the grain section has gone for good, from their facebook page today: Good morning all The website will no longer carry grain as we feel there are better companies out there more suited to this side of the market. We intend to concentrate on the wine and beer kits as well as continuing to ...

Re: Demise of Hop and Grape

Yes, I hear that the range of products offered will be rather different to those currently/previously listed for sale. It doesn't sound like a continuation of the same thing. From their facebook page: We are working very hard to match up our stock with that of The Hop and Grape so in the short term...

Re: Demise of Hop and Grape

At least we still have Home Brew Life in Felling and Elderberry in Whitley Bay. Competition is fierce though, and I must admit I haven't bought anything from Hop and Grape for years. Cheers at Houghton is still there Jim. I believe that they also have a stall in Durham market. The stall in Durham m...

Re: Kit Process

Just so I am clear, I would look to stablilise, de-gas (is this done over a number of days?) then add finings? Would a cold crash be required when fining? I see the 2 part fining method is popular? After adding the stabiliser, I give the wine a good stir with the whizz stick for about 3-4 mins, the...
